Somebody else pointed out that Samuels had waved for someone to replace him after second down. He needed a break, which is no surprise given that he is suddenly being asked to play full time at running back after never doing that before at any level. That he needed the play off is just one of many reasons that should have been a pass.

I wouldn't call Edmunds a bust just yet, but clearly passing on Leonard to take him was a huge mistake.

Regarding the defensive talent, I think they could have won a Super Bowl with that group, though that is primarily due to the strength of the offense. The Chiefs are also a threat to go to the Super Bowl and their defense is even worse.

Jury's still out on his coverage skills at the pro level, but I have to say - I was impressed with his speed. After Thomas caught that crossing route and turned upfield, Edmunds chased him down (quickly I might add) from behind and tackled him. That was impressive for a safety.

It’s rookie QB against Rookie QB. I think Cleveland’s d-line is actually better than Baltimore. Their Oline is as well. That’s why they went with the running QB.

They’ve beaten them before when they weren’t playing well at all.

Me too. Third and 20. The guy got 25 yards. He was WIDE open. We rushed THREE guys. Brees had all day back thee. Why not blitz and give them a 10 yard game. How many times in the last 5 years has this defense given up first downs in third and 10 or greater? 100? Disgusting.

This reeks of the stench of a decision who made the same call to keep the pre season wonder in the game all the while the franchise QB was ready to get back in the game...

Never seen, so many clown fans on this board rooting for the browns to help their fumbling bumbling steelers crawl into the playoffs to stink up another game before they finally expire....

Clowns board is torn over winning & screwing the Rats or losing & screwing the Steelers. About even on who they want to screw.

That tells you there are quite a few stupid Browns fans. The Ravens are the ones who screwed Cleveland over by leaving. You'd have to be a complete idiot to root for your own team to lose just to help the organization that screwed over your city.

It was ridiculous they needed to send one more than they can block to force a quick pass and tackle the catch. Every team does that but ours . No we just sit back and wait to be dissected.....smh. Can we dial up any effective blitzes beside the one with Hilton that works 10% of the time? Sad.....

The Steelers were getting good pressure with four and Brees was cutting them to pieces on the blitz. I thought they rushed four, not three, on that play. I absolutely get the thinking that they should have been more aggressive. My issue was with the coverage they chose, which had too many defenders backed all the way into the end zone and allowed for another ugly breakdown.

I hear what your saying and your right but maybe since they did change things up they could of surprised them with a blitz . That's if they had anything creative which they don't seem too. I don't know but if it's me with the game on the line and 3rd and 20 I rather get beat with pressure than playing that soft zone crap.
If I'm not mistaken the play was almost exactly the same play that the guy had just dropped another eay one on.

Well Cleveland has an opportunity to have a winning season for the first time in ages and would rocket their outlook to next year with the fans and the organization. This would be historic for them. I give it a 50-50 chance.

20 yards down the middle is the sweet spot in the Tampa 2. If you don't have a Shazier or D. Brooks covering the middle then you are playing with fire.

Very solid post. Agree with about everything but saying Tomlin has to go. Is he perfect? NO! Is he a good coach in this league? Yes. I'm not willing to part ways with Tomlin who has never had a losing record. I don't see another coach on the market that's better than Tomlin. Josh McDaniels comes to mind, but we found out how loyal he was last year after taking the colts job for less than a week. Just unsure I'm ready to jump off the Tomlin ship.

I wouldn't want to see them go after McDaniels. He was a disaster in Denver and I doubt he has it in him to do better.

It's not that I think Tomlin is a bad coach. I think he's one of the better head coaches in the NFL. I do think his message has worn thin in Pittsburgh. The lack of discipline seems to be only getting worse. He also seems to be making the wrong calls more often. I'm sure this team can win with a different coach and Tomlin can probably win with a different team. I just think the combination no longer works as well as it should.

The Tomlin predicament is truly a bizarre one. How can someone who consistently makes boneheaded mistakes, never prepared against interior teams, etc still post winning regular seasons and have two SB appearances? It's an odd one alright.

In a sense, Tomlin may be Tony Dungy II, except he won early in his career, whereas Dungy won later in his career, when he moved to a team with a hall of fame QB. Dungy's replacement did win with Brad Johnson though.

Dungy's Buccs were all about the defense & his Colts were a powerhouse offense looking for a defense.
I do see Tomlin as Dungy's most similiar protege.

The secondary should've played to the sticks on that 3rd and 20 .
