The win percentage in the playoffs would be better if the players took better care of the football.

So when they win, it's due to coaching but when they lose it's due to the players?

More perspective: Games favored by 9pts or more:

    Tomlin: 6-5
The rest of the NFL combined: 54-10

2018 wins against teams with winning records= 2. Numbers can be used to say just about anything. My bottom line is the eye test and we have failed miserably for a while.

    Stop!!! Playoff or reg season???

Tomlin has been a good coach BUT you're placing him over Noll!!

Noll took over a perennial loser for decades and only had the draft to turn around the team. His 1st three seasons he went 12-30 before he was able to field a competitive team. Tomlin took over a veteran team loaded with talent 1 year removed from winning the Super Bowl !!!

Cowher took over a team devoid of a lot of talent with a 4-5 year playoff drought. Even dealing with Belicheats cheating ways he still managed a 12-9 playoff record and 1-1 in the SB. Not as good as Nolls 16-8 playoff record with 4-0 in the SB but definately better than Tomlins 8-7 playoff record and 1-1 in the SB .

I am not concerned with how many points a team is favored to win. I don't gamble. Plus those numbers can be manipulated to fit an argument. The win percentage cannot be manipulated.

I realized a long time ago that records, statistical rankings ect ect ect don't mean anything when teams face of vs one another. What matters most is how the team performs on that Sunday.

What is a while? 2014 Steelers 11-5. 2015 Steelers 10-6. 2016 Steelers 11-5. 2017 Steelers 13-3. Seems the Steelers have done fairly well fielding a winner. Steelers fans are spoiled.

It was just as unclear when they let Roethlisberger back into the game. Keeping him out that long was an inexcusable, stupid decision that cost the Steelers a game and will almost definitely cost them a playoff berth.

Did you read the article? They didn't seem to know the extent of Ben's injury. Broken ribs get better with time or worse?

The Steelers blew opportunities to make the playoffs in more than one game. That's life in the NFL.

I don't care to read the same excuses again. His status was every bit as unclear when he did return to the game. Tomlin foolishly gambled that his team could beat the Raiders without Roethlisberger. Maybe he wanted to prove he was right about Dobbs. Whatever the reason, the decision was a mistake and it cost the Steelers the game. If he was able to come in for that last drive, he was able to play from the moment he returned to the field. Tomlin screwed that one up badly.

So evidently Ben's health was only a concern when they were winning but once they were losing heck we don't care if his rib punctures a lung...get him back out there. It's such a lame excuse the uncertainty of his injury. Makes no sense.

I'm talking about regular season winning percentage, I'm not saying Tomlin is the best HC in Steelers history, just stating the facts .

especially given tomlins track record of playing a less than 100 % Ben in games where his mobility was an issue and just as much on the line.

We know Tomlin isn't going anywhere, yet. Once Ben retires and we go 4-12, 5-11 a couple of times and there start to appear a lot of empty seats at Heinz, Rooney will dump him, Rooney rule or not.

There have been many Tomlin threads and rightfully so but my opinion right now sitting here is this. We have one week left to play for a playoff spot, no matter what we do we need major help. I am more focused on the 2 Browns teams(Cleveland and Baltimore) than I am worried about Tomlin. I have been very critical on him but there will be plenty of time left to talk about him after this week. If the Cleveland Browns beat the Baltimore Browns and we win, well we will have playoffs to talk about.....and that is what the goal is for me right now!!!!!

There are many disagreements here, but the onion has many layers and I don't have the time to explain them all. In short, I'll just say people don't know what the hell they are talking about more than half the time lol

This is so true, it amazes me that people don't realize that MT regular season wins are mainly due to his hall of fame QB, hall of fame wide receiver and great offensive line. They have been carrying him for years.

Put MT as coach of the Carolina Panthers, Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders, Tampa Bucs, and these types of teams, then you would see what MT is all about. His record then would be no better then what they are now. The Steeler's regular season records are better because of who we have NOT because of better coaching.

Here is a question you need to ask yourself when you bring up the wins and losses. How many other coaches could get that record with the roster the Steelers have had in all the seasons you stated? I'd say that there is probably 3, maybe 4 coaches who wouldn't be able to do but everyone else wouldn't have any problems.

As for the fact you don't care by how many points a team is favored by because they can be manipulated to fit the narrative? How so? I don't think you can bring up winning seasons but totally disregard the playoff record or the consistent losses to inferior teams, by doing that you are manipulating the record to suit your argument.

As I mentioned before, show me any winning coach that losses multiple games to teams with a sub .500 record for 9 straight seasons. You may have to dig a while to find one, if there is one besides Tomlin. I also said it isn't about them losing so much as it is about how they lose those games as they look like they haven't practiced at all.

That looking bad is on the players for a game or 2, it happens to every team. The thing is it happens with this team EVERY SINGLE SEASON under Tomlin, the slow starts on offense and the constant miscommunication on defense that has happened for the last 5 years. When other good teams lose everyone, even the media expects them to fix the problem, but when it comes to the Steelers you always hear the same question, can they fix it? Why? Because a lot of those pundits and media types know Tomlin isn't that good of a coach, the only two I see defend him is Chris Carter and Stephen A. Smith, nobody else is in his corner like they use to be.
