I agree, but I also don't think we should be that team that keeps a guy for 20 years just because we are afraid of change.

It's a QB driven league. Tell me who did Munch have as a QB? That's like saying Bellichick should of never been given another chance....

Give me any guy who understands that it isn't reasonable to call a fake punt, with the lead, in the 4th quarter of a game, on the road, against the best team in the league. Give me a guy who understands how stupid it is to start off a fake punt by sending a man in motion. It is not rocket science. Art Rooney is not going to hire Papa John or Matt Damon to coach the team. He is going to hire a very qualified, well screened candidate. The next coach of the Steelers will inherit a top 5 offense and a franchise QB for at least a couple of years. This "we can't fire Tomlin because we won't find anyone better" excuse is pretty weak. Some of Mike Tomlin's in game management is so bad that I am not sure we could hire anyone worse.

Tell who would he have as QB? An old over the hill warhorse. You need more than just a QB.

For the next 2 or 3 years he would have Ben. So you think Ben is old and over the hill already? They have more than just a QB they have one of the best offensive teams in the league and a D with a couple pieces missing that they can help fill this year in the draft and FA signings. You think Tomlin is working with a bare cupboard?

I like Munchak. I know things did not work out for him in Tennessee but that was his first go around. Most HC's dont do well in their first assignments as they are just learning the ropes.

He has shown his ability to coach given the status of our offensive line. My belief is that he deserves another shot. I'd give him the opportunity.

I think you might be one of the last Tomlin supporters left. Most of the die hards have finally come to the realization it is time for some new blood.

It is not all a matter of who is better. We could play this game for years to come. We won't know who is better until we give them a chance. I don't necessarily want an ex-HC. I'd rather have someone that was an assistant who is hungry for the opportunity just like Tomlin was. Who knew much about Tomlin before he was hired? His name was not really known at that moment but he has done a decent job.

Note, I did not say good or great. He was given a lot of talent and has done little. Yes, he has a decent record but his failures are just to great to continually stick your head in the sand and hope things will get better. They are not and these problems are not new to the team. These problems have been around a while now and he appears incapable of correcting them.

This is the main issue with me. We continually lose to the dregs of the league year in year out. We constantly give HOF games to janitors who will never see the light of day again in the NFL yet we seem to give them their career day. Our secondary has been horrible for years now with no signs of improvement either with the players they have drafted, bringing in FA's. or putting an emphasis TO drafting competent DB's. Throw in the lack of game management and there you have it.

IM, he has GOT to go. Doing nothing will result in the same results next year. Given you have some future HOF players on your roster, they should be better than they are. Not to beat a dead horse, but how many HOF players have the Patriots fielded over the last 5 years. Name them. I count 2. Compare that with the Steelers. We have more than that who should end up in Canton, yet the Steelers continually struggle while the Patriots have now won their division 10 years in a row with what amounts to a bunch of no names. So, you tell me why they can do it with nobody and the Steelers can't?

So you don't even know if he's still here, but hire him full time? Brilliant.

The intent was if he is on the staff then he has a say on what the D is doing and it’s making a difference. If that’s the case then why not sign him. Beats what weak jaw Butler was doing all year.

People say this all the time and it really is a lazy analysis. Munch never had near the talent that Tomlin has had.

You want to look at the intangibles. The complaints about Tomlin are the things Munch excels at. Attention to detail, tactician, winning your one on one matchups.

I think they should do an exhaustive search before naming anyone as a HC but Munch should definitely be a candidate.

Keep in mind that when Todd Bowles was in Arizona as their DC, they had some pretty good defense's. Tyrann Mathieu can thank him for that. Perhaps he could utilize Terrell Edmunds in a similar role much akin to what Tyrann did.

A candidate for certain but I am not too sure he is the guy in the end. That would buck a lot of trends.

Pittsburgh usually hires them young; mid thirties. They also have been former defensive coaches as well. Not ruling out Munchak but I would imagine he is somewhat of a last resort option if all else fails.

Fans should be satisfied with non losing seasons. Especially when considering that the organization put this team in a position to compete for a championship. Only one team is going to win a championship at the end of the season. Having a competitive team that has a chance is the next best thing to winning a championship.

I'd rather not have terrible years. See the Browns, Lions, Bucs, and some other teams as an example of what you don't want as a fan. There are no guarantees regardless of where a team drafts.

I am sure Tomlin, the other coaches, scouts, and Colbert have input on the draft. It's was stated that they make decisions regarding the players drafted as an organization.

No some people are clearly absolving Tomlin of any blame when it comes to drafting. They mention Colbert and scouts but not Tomlin.

If you don't have down years you will never have a chance to select elite players with a higher chance of success than you would picking later especially franchise QBs . They are found at the top of the draft. So where does 9-7 get you? Especially when a few of those losses every year happen against teams you have no business losing to. So even if you do sneak into the playoffs you are at a disadvantage with no home field advantage that statistics prove almost every year the teams with home field have a distinct edge.
So no having a competitive team isn't always the best scenario. Competitive doesn't equal realistic.

I'm on record saying Tomlin deserves another year . I'm just not in the camp that he should have a job for life because he never had a losing season. There are obvious warts on this team that have been apparent for years and anyone who doesn't see them is because they choose not to. So I guess some of you guys are fine with never having a losing season but our playoff record in the last 10 years means nothing ...
We're not the Browns,Lions or Bucs we are the Pittsburgh Steelers our expectations should be a lot higher.

How about taking a flyer on Matt Lafleur? Young guy who can keep this O on the leading edge with the talent we have. Then let's see if he can find a defensive guru waiting to show the world what he's got.

I don't discount that he had some success in Zona but at this point he is a beaten man. We already have one of those.
