What ever happened to the flag. That was thrown for unsportsmanlike?

There was some stuff after a Ben scramble, the ref came in and split it up, then threw a flag. Picked it up after some talking saying it was for roughing after Ben was down, but it was a continuation of the play!

Made no sense because he pulled and threw the flag well after the play and as the LB was saying something to him. Seemed to me it was for something he said or did after the play.

The Joke of a call late on Vance was crazy as well. Felt like they came together and decided since it was a Saints penalty, they didn’t want to decide the game by calling it PAss Interference! Came away and Called Illegal contact. Auto first, but only 5 yards, really gave them a chance to regroup and get different personnel in there.

That was my first thought as soon as we lost. I can let bad calls go, but I had a feeling that was going to be crucial when it happened. Just a flat out abomination of a call.

This should be ammo for those wanting PI reviewable.

wrong again. Media is having a field day and not one of them is not talking about how the officiating sucked.

My concern is that the game does not need to be slowed down anymore then it actually is. I understand the premise I just don't think its a good idea.

Having played football competitively in HS I always never liked the excuse
well the officials hurt you. But it seemed like this year the Steelers could not catch a break from the officiating crew's.

Yes, it always sounds like a bad excuse, but I agree this season there have been at least 3 clear cut bad calls which have resulted in opposition scores. It’s far from the only reason the season turned out the way it did, but they can’t be discounted.

They can speed up the game by removing TV timeouts and shortening breaks between change of possession. They won’t, but they could.

I think making PI reviewable wouldn’t add too much on. Number of challenges stay. It just seems ridiculous that you can challenge a catch, possession and ball spot but not a penalty that moves the ball 50 yards to the 1 yard line.

I would rather get the calls right and not have them cost teams games. I don't care how long aSteeler game takes as long as they win and the refs not jobbin us like they do would help the cause

Just another blatant BS attempt to " steer" games. The ref obviously heard something that caused hm to reach in his pocket, pull a flag and throw a flag. So what happened that changed his mind? You tell me....

The fix was clearly in, the Steelers were not going to be allowed to win that game, you knew the the PI calls were coming when they absolutely had to for the Saints. Just like the Steelers were not going to be allowed to blow out the new LA team struggling to sell tickets in a huge market. 14 points were handed to them on the false start TD, and the punt return TD where the refs ignored the most blatant push in the back call in history, 7 handed to the Saints yesterday on a call Romo said was the worst PI call he'd ever seen. I think Romo is doing a great job by the way as an aside.

Funnily enough, last week the usual rash of Pats friendly laundry did not arrive on cue, why? keep the Steelers more relevant for the big game against NO the following week, they didn't need the Pats to win, as the Pats were winning the div regardless, just read the NFL narrative, keep the races and the games close at all costs. You can see 'keeping the games close' every week in the NFL. Team goes 14-0 up, the flags come out and pretty soon it's 14-7. Night follows day, I think we all know it's now entertainment and not sport.

However on the other side, we have a clown for a HC who doesn't know when to throw the red hanky and hasn't won a challenege since God was a lad. A coach who still cannot manage a game, a coach over-matched week after week despite having 12 years HC experience, we have a team that cannot get out of its own way, last 3 possessions last night IIRC, fumble, mystifying fake punt fail turnover on downs, and another fumble. I've lost count of the poor HC calls, and games we have thrown away in the 4th Q. These days I don't follow the week to week NFL pantomime as closely as I used to so the blatant cheating by officials just washes over me, I understand what i'm seeing, calls like we saw against SD and NO would at one time have ruined my entire week, these days, 24 hours and I have gotten over them.

So a mixed picture, I think we've been getting jobbed for half a decade or so, we've also had a poor HC and a penchant for throwing games away and playing down to opponents meaning we never get a 1-2 seed.

The calls will start going the Steelers way again, when the NFL wants them to, right now our role is the fall guy, usually as the Pats patsy, and we fit it so well as we can't get out of our own way either. It's as if we got to six and the NFL said 'enough!' - that's how the NFL/Disney rolls. The narrative they wanted was Manning v Brady, and then Brady beating the Steelers, current narrative? Boost the new LA teams. I also think they'd like to see the Browns back and the Jets, we'll see how the calls roll for them in the next season or two.

What do I draw from all this? We need a new HC, and we need to wait a little before the NFL decides they want the Steelers winning post season games again. The NFL is what it is now, the 'rules' have been purposely shrouded in mystery, left open to interpretation and as a result, manipulation, so the NFL can shape the games the way it wants. Our time will come again I suspect, but I think we all know by now because of combination of ineptitude and blatant cheating this particular Steelers team is not winning any more rings.

I agree with the Vance McDonald interference call there as well that was clearly interference and it should have been a 1st down near the 25 yard line and not a 5 yard holding call. For them to call interference on Haden in the 1st quarter and then only call that holding and 5 yard penalty for that call was complete garbage.

Maybe that happens or maybe not. At this point it is water under the bridge. And if the owners dont want to continue to repeat recent history, they need a new coaching staff starting with Tomlin. Too much "groundhog day" happening around here for the past 10 years. It has gotten worse this year.

They didn't want the Steelers having a shot at winning the game with a TD, an option that was still open with the ball at the 25. So make it 5 yards, pick up the flag on Ben. I also saw Ben levelled with a crown of the helmet to the chest the same way Foles was who got a 15 yard flag, obviously BR got nothing.

We need new coaching (I can't see it happening, we're stuck with rabbit in headlights man for years to come) and we need the NFL to want the Steelers back, right now they don't want us winning jack.

I have been a NFL fan since 2002. So I have seen a lot of bogus defensive penalties. But that pass interference penalty against Joe Haden yesterday was the worst pass interference call I have seen. Joe Haden played great defense on that play. But the refs messed it up.

In a couple of days nobody except whining Steelers fans will remember anything about the officiating in that game. Game is over and so is the season. We all know the refs make bad calls in every game. Win some lose some. Instead of complaining about bad calls in a couple games this season, I hope the owners are making decisions about the future of this team. This team's season never should have come down to 5 or 6 sh!tty calls by the refs. I'm sure we could all find just as many crappy calls that went our way this year and helped us win. This team has bigger problems than bad officiating and it starts with the head coach. Tomlin needs to be gone.

It's not even debateable that MT is out of his depth. He's our Marvin Lewis.

If the season hinges on 3 calls by the officials, then we are not a quality team and have grossly underachieved. I'm sure we could easily find 3 blown calls that went our way and helped win a game or two. I know it sucks and nobody is happy about it, but the reason for the Steelers record and situation is not because of the refs. Getting owned by the AFC west including the worst team in the league and not being able to beat the damn browns is more relevant. This team is unprepared almost every week, doesn't make adjustments in game, and lacks discipline. These failures fall on the coaching staff and Tomlin is responsible and needs to be gone.

The refs were awful, but the only game I can be 100% furious with them was the Chargers game where they gave up 14 completely fake points. That was awful.

Really good teams can overcome the refs if need be... we didn't. End of story.

Marvin Lewis been to 2 SuperBowls and won 1 of those Super Bowls as a head coach for the Bengals? I did not know that.

We definitely shafted ourselves more than the refs did, but giving SD 14 points and then NO 7, whilst

He lucked into a great defense and a franchise QB/WR combo, MT had zero to do with it. As he has proven since, the guy is a buffoon.
