In training camp they go against eachother. Mostly in 1 on 1s but they do scrimmage eachother in camp. Only thing is the defense is handicapped because it's usually 7 on 7 and the qb is untouchable. Pressure on the qb plays a large role in pass coverage. Idc how great your defense is if you cant get pressure EVENTUALLY someone will get open.

If we drafted him thinking he could single cover gronk the entire organization completely screwed up the draft process for last yr. Only non corner I've seen one on one cover gronk is eric berry and when healthy he is the best strong safety in the game and he was rated coming out of high school as the best corner back in the nation. You dont single cover gronk you bracket him with a linebacker underneath and safety over the top. You also could try to put a physical corner on him with safety help over the top.

 

true. If you were our defensive coordinator how would you go about defending the patriots given our lineup?

 

I would have Burns cover Gronk one on one.
I would tell Burns to take a running start on the first play and hit him about 2 or 3 inches
below his knee leading with his helmet and put him out of the game.
That is about the only way Burns can cover him.
