Your assumption that they would keep running the ball is where you are getting it wrong. They only ran on the first-down play. After that, they threw on second, third and fourth down. Remember, the Raiders needed a touchdown on that drive. They were down four points, so a field goal was useless. They couldn't afford to waste plays to grind down the clock. They had to run whatever plays they thought might get them into the end zone.

He has had his ups and downs. and overall I give him a B grade. For specifics the answer is far too detailed that I have time for.

A team is only as good as it's players. Penalties, Turnovers, INTs in the redzone and in general, etc.. is on the PLAYERS mostly. Is Boswell playing terrible a reflection on Tomlin? I don't think so. These are professionals. I think they can remember a snap count or other basic rules of the game.

Tomlin is also not as bad with the X and Os as many project. And much more..

Mike Tomlin's record 123–64–1 winning 66% of regular season games winning 2 superbowls. People can speculate the cause all they want. That is among the best in the game over a long period of time.

So do the Chiefs fire Andy Reid if they don't win the superbowl this year? He had a bad year last year also by many's standards.

No you keep your winning coach unless you are not very bright.

    IMO

Tomlin did a great job with the Le'veon situation IMO. and the AB situation, etc etc.. Helping this team keep its focus when its players are hell bent on causing distractions.

All of this is ultimately pointless as I give it a 5% chance that the Rooney's will actually fire Mike Tomlin. He will most likely fire and replace some of his other staff however.

mcam is giving out participation trophies. It's a plastic replica of the Lombardi that doesn't get as many fingerprints on it.

I also forgot to mention the super MT won was by two great plays by Cowher's picked players. Harrison with his 99 yard interception return and Ben's pass to Santonio Holmes.

He was more interested in his D getting a stop then actually looking at the big picture of actually winning the game. When is he gonna learn that the D that he has a major hand in never gets the stop. I guess he bases all his decisions on the broken clock being right twice a day. There is no rhyme or reason or consistency to his decision making.

Tomlin's players didn't fall from the sky, he helped choose them and he's supposed to help develop them. Defense is his forte, defensive backs in particular, the thing that the Steelers lack the most. His tenure has been in a steady decline for the last 5-6 seasons (some would say more). He continues to make the same mistakes over and over. I'll take .500 'smart' football over what I'm seeing right now, it's less frustrating.

His mistakes teach him nothing, which is probably the most bothersome to me.

Tomlin said he wanted to have at least one timeout for when they got the ball back on offense, so they weren't going to use 2 timeouts on defense.

Sorry I know what he said but guess where that TO is? Either still in his pocket or maybe it went through the wash. His reasoning made absolutely no sense. There are a multitude of ways to stop the clock on O. Guess how many on D? No matter how you slice it. He was wrong.

Wrong, you keep a timeout for your offense to set up your FG unit.

Not when it costs you 40 seconds. It still keeps, the middle of the field open because you can spike the ball. I haven't done the math myself but Ive read multiple articles where if he used his TOs properly they would of had almost a minute to move the ball. Would you rather have 15 seconds and a TO or almost a minute and none?

He also said that he wanted to keep their chances of running the ball alive for them because he felt we could stop the run. Guess what? They also had a TO remaining so they could of chose to still run the ball. They were in no hurry because they were smart and they knew time wasn't a factor for them. They new they needed a TD to win no matter what. So why leave us with more time if they scored. He was flat out wrong.

1 superbowl win and 1 superbowl appearance out of two superbowl appearances. Point being is that is pretty good. How many current NFL coaches have a record better than that? And will one of those be available to replace Tomlin?

Of course I hear Todd Haley is looking for work. Maybe he's the X factor people are hoping for. Or maybe Hue Jackson is up for the task. We could only be so lucky.
