Not sure why he was at the combine as a tight end. 6 foot 225 lbs is not an NFL tight end, but it is a running back.

Personally am excited to see more of him on the field. I predict per carry/catch he won't have much of a drop off than Conner.

Ridley will be splitting time with him so his touches probably won't be as great as Conner's.

Oh no, not another Jaylen Samuels thread! ;)

Looking forward to it - would be nice to develop a 1-2 punch that many other teams successfully use. If so, I envision "JumboJaylenHotness" making a guest appearance in this MB. :lolol:

Hopefully Jaylen sees the field more than Ridley. Like to see him get an opportunity to show what he can do.

He wasn't really a RB at NC St. He'd line up almost anywhere. He'd get some handoffs from out of the backfield, but he was really more of passing catching threat. He was never a 15-20 carry a game guy. I believe he holds the NC St record for most receptions. Nyheim Hines was their real running back.

I hope he’s a good and can carry us to the playoffs in place of Conner. That’s of course until he comes back. We need a good backup!

I'm big on Samuels but I'm not sure he has the wiggle or speed to be a full time RB.

I think we will see alot of Ridley as well. 70/30 split in favor of Samuels.

I think this is correct given Samuels is #2 on the depth chart

If this is a throw 60 times, run 15 times offense, and lately that's what it's been, Samuels might be the perfect back for it. A RB who is really a reciever.

I expect a few carries, maybe end arounds, given to the wideouts.

    I don't see it though.

Sure he had more plays as a receiver in college than at running back. He's running well as a running back. So he catches good. Awesome. He'll be a good outlet out of the backfield. Also can potentially like up at the slot as he did in college.

I'm actually impressed with his skills running the football as a running back. I don't look at him and see a wide receiver or tight end. To me it's pretty easy to tell where he belongs.

True, he lined up more as a WR/TE than a running back. I don't interpret that as him being lackluster as a running back. I think it just fit their scheme better the way they had it.

From what I see of him, he shows good vision, speed, and power. Add to that his catching ability, and that is good. He's not going to outrun defenders long though. we will find out.

I like Samuels a lot .I think he can be a very effective 3rd down type back in this league. I probably wouldn't consider him a bonafide starter behind Conner I think that needs to be addressed in the draft for sure. Samuels is a versatile weapon though but I still think he can really blossom with a offseason that focuses on his conditioning . Conner came back this year in great shape. Samuels needs to do the same next year.

samuels is not a wiggle RB. he will bring a different style but it can be just as effective. the 1-2 punch of he and riddley will do well today.

Samuels definitely lacks wiggle. He also lacks explosiveness. He doesn't hit a hole or turn the corner particularly well. He certainly doesn't do either like Conner and probably not even at Ridley's level.

If the blocking is there, Samuels can be an effective runner and useful receiver, but I don't think he's ever going to do anything special.
