Already looks good in black and gold.

I wouldn't in the first but if he's there in the second, I'd be on board with this. This guys going to be awesome.

Vance will be 29 next season and TE's out of college usually take a year to flourish at the NFL level. Putting Noah in a good spot to take over the following season.

PFF had him as our 1st round pick in their mock I saw recently. And the team just tried out TE Billy Brown so they are definitely looking to add to the TE room. Iowa has the hot hand for TEs recently with the way George Kittle is playing.

He will definitely be a guy to watch for pre-draft meetings etc

Noah Fant is likely slotting himself into the early second round for the 2019 NFL Draft.

That kid is way too talented to be there by the time Pittsburgh is on the clock. Too many teams want their own Travis Kelce or Rob Gronkowski anymore.

I'm from Iowa and have watched all his games. The kid is the real deal. Block run and catch. He can do it all. A great a addition to the Steelers I would say.

Maybe I’m in the minority here, but for me it’s at least a yellow flag when a college player bails on his bowl game.

I was in the minority the other night when a few friends and I were talking about Deebo Samuel skipping South Carolina’s upcoming bowl game.

In my opinion, I have no problem with it. The only time I would have an issue with it is if my team was in the playoff, Which in that case most likely no player would sit out and miss those games. I look at bowl games like a wild-card playoff game, except knowing before the game that win or lose, the season is over. Why risk on losing millions of dollars if you're projected to go high, to basically be playing in an exhibition game?!

If it were me, I would sit down first with my head coach and talk to him about my thoughts. Assuming he was OK with that, I would then talk to my entire team and give them my reasoning for it. Most likely these guys are getting their teammates blessing for doing it

I think we have more pressing needs than a TE.

Whether it be through the draft or FA,I believe a CB or Safety and ILB should
    be on our short list.

I dunno. If he bailed on playoff game or a conf championship game, I might agree. But if he's bailing on the Poulin Weedeater Who-gives-a-rats-a** Bowl, I got no problem. Lots of coaches desert their teams before bowl games to chase a high paying job. I don't see why the player can't too.

It worked out well for Fournette and McCaffrey.

First time I saw it happen I got all old-timer and really took issue with it. I’ve become much more accepting of the practice and it would no longer turn me off of a player.

Boss started sitting out midseason. I think if these guys are going to do it they should have to pay back the scholarship money. Seems fair.

    This.

Prior to 3 years ago, it would have been a red flag for me as well.

Simply put, it is just widely accepted now.

Heck, Nick Bosa quit on a championship calibre team and his school and very likely could go #1.

I agree, what about the fan bases that have followed these players for these years
and then they get to a bowl game and Quit. Will Grier anyone.

I just watched Noah Fant for 4 games. There’s a lot to like about him as a receiver. He has a rare combination of size and speed that doesn't come along often. His hands look pretty good, but not exceptional. As for blocking.... looks like Tarzan, blocks like Jane. If he’s there in the 2nd round, I may be interested depending on who else is there. Not interested at Pick #20.

I would be happy if the Steelers drafted Fant's teammate in Hockenson .

Agree. I like Hockenson better than Fant. More complete. But I take neither at #20.
