    NFL at present

Top tier: Rams, Chiefs, Saints, Patriots
2nd tier: Steelers, Chargers, Bears, Texans, Seahawks, Panthers, Vikings
3rd tier: Titans, Redskins, Cowboys, Ravens

The dropoff from top tier to 2nd tier is huge. There are 4 elite teams, the rest are pretenders.

Shocking that Heinz is still part of the negative crowd.

The Steelers are certainly underdogs to any of the top four teams, but they do have a shot. The loss to the Chiefs was ugly even if the final score was close, but the current defense is much better than what they were that early in the season. Most importantly, Joe Haden didn't play that day and Artie Burns was still a starter. Burns was even worse than usual that day and Haden was sorely missed.

Kansas City's defense is terrible. Even if Berry can return and play at his normal level, they are still bad. Even with Donald, the Rams aren't great defensively, either. Talib's return will help, but it's still not a great unit.

FootballAnalyst's comparison of the team last year to this year is clearly wrong. The team was winning, but the defense was getting progressively worse by the New England game in 2017. The opposite is true this season. The defense has improved a great deal and should only get stronger once Tuitt returns.

Rams and chiefs have no defense, the way our defense has improved and the team is looking better a whole i like our chances against KC if we do get a rematch. won't be easy but i think we could make more stops this time around and score at will with no problem

People act like the Super Bowl was played last night. Steelers might as well pack up their lockers and call it a season.

When the playoffs start, throw everything you did in the regular season out the window.

I've seen an 8-8 Tim Tebow led Broncos trounce us out and we were a 12-4 team (i believe or maybe we were 11-5 anyway).

I seen a 7-9 seahawks team trounce out an 11-5 saints team in the playoffs. (this was the beast mode mega run game)

Lots of times sub-par teams knock out better teams in the playoffs. It happens every year.

Eric berry would change alot with their defense. Plus no one is stopping them especially at home they literally need at most 3 stops a game and they are good because no one personell wise can match up with their offense. They pose so many mismatches and with the playcalling with andy Reid it's insane. The rams do as well. All 3 of those teams have elite receiving threats not just on the outside at any moment but as well as the backfield. You can lineup Gurley, kamara( he may be a top ten wr his route running is impeccable), and hunt on the outside and tell them to run routes intermediate and routes down the field. I also feel with the exception of Andy Reid that the saints and rams have better coaches than we do. And our defense like I've stated had really only had one test all year that I would call elite and the chiefs blew the doors of us. I'm not excited about the falcons, browns, blake bortles, dalton, flacco. None of those QBs are even top 10 rn... I do like what they did to cam but it's possible that they overrated they just got shut down by the lions. The rest of the season will really tell how good this defense is.

I'd honestly put Dallas in tier 2 right now. Their defense is head and shoulders above everyone else's. Take Seahawks, Vikings, and Panthers out of tier 2. All definite pretenders. I'm leaning towards taking ne out of tier 1 but I wont do that just yet. The colts are a tier 3 fringe tier 2 I see them getting that 6th seed.

im a negative nancy but cmon man if we arent beating every team by 40 points you say we suck.

Football is football. Rams/chiefs won some close games to subpar teams as well. Patriots lost to some subpar teams.

Let the season play out, our defense is getting better but Ben just needs to take his head out his butt.

Nothing gets thrown out the window. The teams are still the same (barring injury of course). Upsets happen in the regular season too. The reality is the Saints, Rams and Chiefs have very good offences that will be difficult to slow down and impossible to stop. We will have to be able to outscore them because we sure as hell can't stop them.

Then there's the Pats. On paper they're not scary, but we have shown no ability to beat them over the years.

With the way Ben is, we could very well beat KC and the Pats or he could have one of his stinkers and we could get blown out. I just hope we get a chance to play one of those teams. I'm tired of losing to inferior teams in the playoffs. I'll be absolutely sick to my stomach if any team other than NE or KC beats us out. If KC or NE beat us in January, I will be able to accept it a bit more because NE always beats us and KC is the better team.

As for Tebow beating a 12-4 Steelers team, we were the worst 12-4 team in history and anyone who paid attention that year knew we weren't very good. It's really not shocking we lost.

No I'm not saying we suck. I'm saying time will tell on us to be in that convo witj the elite 3. I'm not sold on NE. I do not have them in the convo with the saints, rams, and chiefs but they have proven the most in recent memory so therefore out of respect they still rank up there but I do not believe they are on those teams level. I think even the chargers and texans have better teams than NE. Their defense completely stinks, gronk is no longer gronk, Edelman not the same after peds and the injury, and gordon hasnt looked like the josh gordon of 2013. Also Brady is showing age. They play in the AFC least so they are a playoff and home game lock but I wouldnt be surprised if they end up the 4th seed because if we beat them we as well as kc and hou will have a better record than them.

    Pats are second tier.
Edit: This list needs another tier.
    1st Tier: Rams, Chiefs, Saints
    2nd tier: Steelers, Chargers, Pats
3rd tier: Bears, Texans, Hawks, Panthers, Vikings
4th tier: Also rans that cannot be taken seriously.

While were at it, my money would be on the Ratbirds for second wildcard in AFC.

I'll be sick if we lose to NE again. If we lose idc who wins it long as THEY DONT. I even rooted for philly because of them.

The Falcons have one of the top offenses in the league. Their defense is a joke, but they can score.

The Chiefs did not face anything close to the current version of the Steelers' defense. Haden alone makes a huge difference and he missed that game.

More importantly, the communication is far better than it was at the start of the season. They aren't suffering from massive breakdowns the way they were early on. Getting Burnett healthy and practicing as well as playing regularly helps in that area. Edmunds has grown with experience. Davis has had time to adjust to the move back to free safety. Bostic has had time to work with the rest of the defense.

Berry certainly makes a difference, but he can't fix that mess of a defense by himself. Also, the way his injury is lingering, I have to wonder if he will be back at all or if he will be 100 percent when he does.

chiefs are going to score, thing is we need to hold them under 30 and we need to run it down their throats.

Would you settle for a Clive? He probably won't mind. But you'll have to wait your turn in line right behind Real Steel. Obviously. :hehehe:

JMO and it might be off topic, but i did not enjoy this game one bit, granted i didnt watch the whole thing i just checked in from time to time.. This to me was nothing but a pissing contest between two teams. Rams with the ball with 128 left and they dont even atempt to run the ball, c=mon . If this is the way the NEW NFL is gona be, then i will loose interist in it fast ... nothing more than arena league game last night...

The slobber-fest and obsession with the Chiefs, Rams and Saints is hilarious. Yes, all are likely better than the Steelers right now, particularly the Saints, but their defenses are absolutely putrid. All three can be beaten and yes, I think we can do it. (I'm sure someone will rate this "very optimistic" and that's wrong. It's the truth)
