The game could end in a fumble as well..
No need to 2nd guess... it worked

I wasn't second guessing, I was thinking back to a Steelers game last season that ended with a pick in the endzone.

Time was also a factor. If they run the ball after the facemask penalty, that would have been their last shot at a touchdown. They would have to use the time-out and then settle for the tying field goal. Throwing gave them two shots, one of which ended with the defensive holding call.

i understand being aggressive and putting the game in Ben's hands.. would have liked to have seen a throw with far less risk given the situation.. with a sharp pass over the middle, on the goal line, all it takes is a tipped ball at the LOS or something.. had instant flashbacks to the Pats game last year when that ball was picked.

Also have to factor in a penalty that would call for s 10 second runoff. At least with the time out you could negate that.

He actually threw 5. One was overturned on a very weak QB roughing call.

Agree they should not be in shotgun, they should of had Nix in and gave it to Conner. Remember they still had a timeout if they didn't make it. Even after they got a penalty against the Jags and that made it 1st down, run it again. We only needed 1 yard at that point and still had a timeout left. Running the ball was the right play at that time and spot.

I think at the time there was 9 or 10 seconds left. Run first for the one yard, if you don't make it call the timeout and run your best play then. Either way you get two shots.

If a run takes five seconds, then they would be dropping back to pass with five seconds left and no time-outs. It's a bad risk when they only needed a field goal to tie. Remember, the Steelers' defense was dominating at that point. Overtime wouldn't have been the worst thing.

Someone should ask Jalen Ramsey if that TD run by Ben was "decent at best"?

Why would a run take 5 seconds. A QB sneak there would have taken at most 1. Then you pass.

It was a bad call. If Ben doesn’t make that td you call a timeout with 3 seconds and kick a field goal.

2 plays > 1 play. My guess is they were worried about getting stuffed. But I’ll take a qb sneak over Ben diving over a LB any day.

I was pretty mad every time I see Ben line up in Shot Gun every time, how about the illusion of a run.

Nope. Not true. I will give you the weak call but the interception in the end zone does not count. 4 at most

It was a bad pass by Ben but I don’t know how weak the roughing the passer call was? Looking at the tape with today’s ridiculous roughing the passer rules, Brady or Rodgers would of gotten that call.Calais Campbell hit Ben after he released the ball and stayed on top of him.In my eyes that shouldn’t be roughing the passer which is a joke now but treat all qb’s the same!

We will have to disagree. We cannot know if pass was good or bad since defender had a hold of Switzers facemask

True the face mask caused that interception and was called correctly. So 4 picks

A quarterback sneak takes more than one second. Also, a quarterback sneak would have been a terrible idea there. If they were going to run there, it had to be Conner.

It wasn't a bad call. There is no argument there because it worked. The play-calling got them in the end zone. The scoring play offered enough options that they got a touchdown even with the Jaguars playing it perfectly.

I guess I have to disagree. QB sneaks probably work 75% + of the time when it’s less then a yard away. And maybe it takes 3 seconds, I don’t know, but I do know if Ben doesn’t make it on the play they called, now you kick a field goal (or risk going for it).

We can still argue even though it worked. I’m glad it worked, but if Ben gets smoked by the LBer and gets knocked out for the season you’d be calling for Tomlin’s head.

I didn’t like any of the calls that close to the goal line. Just punch the god damn ball in. The jags have the #1 pass defense for a reason.

I will add that my best guess is they didn’t want to run it, and then follow up with a sack for game set match.

I was talking about the roughing the passer penalty where Ben was picked, not the play where Switzer was mauled and picked.

That was a very satisfying win, to beat the Jags after what they did to the Steelers twice at home last season.
