Still not comfortable with our backup QB situation. Our two backups have a combined total of 1 NFL pass between them and to me that is walking on real thin ice. We are even more reliant on Ben than ever before and he has a history of injury throughout his career. I am not at Steeler practices and see what Colbert is seeing. Just a worry that I have that was rekindled when Reid almost took Bens head off.

Don't worry, every other team is in the same boat.

IDK that one pass was more pressure and more important than any mop up duty most qb's see anymore. I am not worried about our back ups.

You guys are looking at this cap savings all wrong. We can use the extra money for a state of the art ping pong table and some much needed gym equipment because the duct tape is starting to fail. The most sensible place to spend some of that cash? Dave and Busters baby!!

<Snip> over Bud Dupree? I like how you're thinking. Maybe he'll win Jacksonville.

Mod Edit: Hot button topic, lets not go there.

What to do with the money? Here is what I would do.

    - Sign the best possible corner or pass rusher available within the cap space available in that time. From there, bolster other areas that need depth in Free Agency but do not overpay for it.

    - Soon thereafter, address the other major area of need in the draft depending on which Free Agent has been signed between cornerback or pass rusher. Furthermore, if depth cannot be found in Free Agency, find said depth in the draft.

Realistically speaking, it is likely that a cornerback will be on the agenda for the top slot this season via the draft given the current circumstances. I also believe that our interior line needs a good look as well since BJ Finney will be 28 and should be Ramon's heir. Ramon is past the wrong side of 30 as it stands currently. Defensive line depth will also need to be addressed as Alualu will be over 30 as well. Pass rusher wise? Keep Dupree and dump Chickillo. A same truly but Keion and Ola will likely have gotten better by that point. Furthermore, Chickillo will likely price himself out of Pittsburgh anyways.

Now, should the team elect to sign the high priced corner over the pass rusher, then it is likely that Dupree is the one who will kick the proverbial bucket UNLESS Pittsburgh goes a different direction in the draft that does not coincide with a pass rusher. Should Bud finish the year strong, it is likely then that, assuming the high priced Free Agent corner is signed here, the direction of the draft could be truly up for grabs; best player available.

Lock some current players up probably because the Steelers don’t believe in free agents. And the few they do are constantly injured.

Just heard Steelers have 14 million credit to salary cap... plus they plan to transition tag Bell. Steelers should have plenty of money to get Jaylen Samuels and the best free agent OLB in the offseason. I say Steelers win Super Bowl in February 2020. Not so confident for this year.
