If you google it there's only one article talking about it and the reason they know that the Jets tampered is because "that's something that the Jets would do."

    Worst "article" I've ever read.

It's hard to know what is considered tampering anymore. Gunther Cunningham was fined for tampering by just saying he would gladly take some of his former players if the Chiefs cut him. If anyone on the Jets said anything about being in line to negotiate with Bell that could be construed as tampering although it's slight in my opinion.

Negotiating with Bell while he’s under a franchise tag is a violation of the CBA. By both parties.

IDK, KC was nailed for similarly tampering and the penalty was the loss of two draft picks, 3rd and 6th, and minor fines. That’s chump change for a Bell acquisition.

It's going to be hilarious when the Jets change their mind and Bell looks like a complete idiot.

Not saying they would have actually negotiated with him but if they were to say something to the effect of being in line should he hit the open market and they are one of the first teams to contact him when he does, a case can be made for tampering.

They speculated on this on NFL Radio a few days ago with Andrew Brandt (former NFL exec and agent) and he said that he highly doubts it for the simple fact that the penalties would be so confiscatory that they wouldn't do it.

And if he goes to the Jets....bwhahahaha. Have fun languishing in mediocrity. Plus he's too thinned skinned. He can't take negative press in Pittsburgh. Good luck in the media firestorm that is New York. He'll last two season, get cut, be on his 3rd team in 3 years and out of the league in year 4.

I want it to stay that way :hehehe: If he gets 60 mill at signing which I highly doubt.. But he wins all this in that scenario. Anything over 30 and he wins.

He could get a billion and he still loses. $14M dollars that is. The only way that skipping this season and the paycheck that goes with it is worth it is if he would have suffered an injury severe enough to negatively impact what he would have gotten in FA this offseason. While it certainly would have been a risk, it is highly unlikely that that would have happened. So instead of the $14M plus the contract that he's going to get next season, he's only going to get the contract that he's getting next season.

That's the thing we don't know if he would have got injured or not because he didn't play. That 14m doesn't matter to him if he gets double that in this off-season. I'm factoring the 19m he missed for signing bonus last year where he made it thru injury free + the 14m this year. So if he gets 33m + at signing this off-season then he wins imo and I think most people would agree.
