"Aditi Kinkhabwala of NFL.com reports that neither the Steelers nor the NFL is planning on making the franchise tender from this season carry over to next season, but Bell could miss out on benefits in relation to his pension and healthcare reimbursement that are connected to how many credited seasons a player has.

This is the first time I've seen a validated source stating that all Bell would be out for sitting the entire year would be essentially losing pension benefits and healthcare reimbursement. Seems like a drop in the bucket when he's dropping 855,000 thousand a game.

So if this report is correct, if Bell were Franchised Tagged next year it'd be at 25 million. Think everyone knows the Steelers aren't paying that. There is the transition tag option with a baseline price of around 10 mill a year with potential to match offers for other teams.

Not sure why everybody gets so worked up about “bell threads,” it’s literally forum gold and probably generated more curious new users then angry old men who can’t stand the guy.

On the topic: I think the general consensus is that no steeler fan cares when he comes back. He ruined his image for us.
