Package burns and bell (when he finally signs) with our first rd pick to a team picking in the top 8... then snatch up greedy Williams in the next draft

Greedy Williams is going to be a hell of a player.

Bell has no trade value. Unfortunately without selling the house, I don't see it happening. He would be an awesome addition.
It's too early to give up on him. My hope is 2018 will be the year that our DB coach tear him down and builds him back up. Fact of the matter is we need his depth. If or I should say WHEN there's an injury we will need him to make the playoffs. He has to get his head straight. If he doesn't this season then I hope the FO takes that Bell $ and puts it into a FA DB. We clearly have no ability to draft or develop CB's.
Maybe, but half way thru his 3rd season - when he should be establishing his bona rides as a solid CB, at least - he can't get on the field. As Yogi Berra said, "it gets late early around here"

I know TomBradley is a Yinzer legend was supposed to be the magic fix for the DBs, but honestly has he been better than the previously beloved Yinzer legend turned sour, Carnell Lake?

I'm soooooooo lonely! Looks like a little kid which in fact may be his problem. His emotions are those of a petulant child.

Someone see's something in him that keeps him in uniform each week. I have to defer to their judgement. I have no choice but to get behind them on this and not in the way. Hope he gets what he needs real soon.

Not sure how hurdling ability applies to covering WRs. If anything it would make him better at avoiding contact.

Well, even sprinting takes more than just raw speed to reach world-class level. Hurdling adds significantly more technique, which means lots more focus and work to be that good.

Artie Burns on his benching last week: 'Life goes on'
https://steelerswire.usatoday.com/2018/11/01/artie-burns-on-his-benching-last-week-life-goes-on/

When (Burns was) asked about the discipline, Burns was pithy, to say the least. “It is what it is, you know?” Burns said. “Life goes on.”
But perhaps the most troubling was Burns’ response when asked what he thought he had to do in order to get back into the team’s good graces. “I don’t know,” Burns said. You ask me questions like I’m the coach or something.” This kid has a problem that is not going away and it is beyond football.

"Pittsburgh didn’t make any moves before the trade deadline so they are going to sink or swim with Burns."

Artie Burns on benching vs. Browns: 'It is what it is'
http://www.post-gazette.com/sports/...rs-secondary-mike-tomlin/stories/201810310174

"Burns did acknowledge he was back running with the first team defense Wednesday, although Coty Sensabaugh, Sunday’s starter, did not practice because of a toe injury from that game against Cleveland."

I'm in the camp that thinks that Burns is not as bad as he's being portrayed currently.

Obviously the dude is in a slump. So to me, the key is how to get him back in the game How to get his confidence up?

I don't think the answer is benching him entirely. Give him time as the nickel back. let him make some plays and build confidence.

I can't really believe he is as bad as he's been playing. There's something that's going on. IMO.

His Mom is dead, Artie was tasked at a very young age to raise his siblings by himself. I believe he has
2 younger brothers in HS living with him up here in Pittsburgh.

Ike Taylor was benched in his fourth season and went on to be a pretty good CB. I just hope burns bounces back in a similar fashion.

With the way he talks it seems he just doesn't care. Instead of saying "I'm going to improve, work hard and hone my craft" he says "It is what it is"

I understand that he has had struggles in his life. It's possible that he needs professional help.

He has struggled to take the position as his own. Being a 1st round pick he is Expected to perform. He has not lived up to that expectation and I don't see that changing anytime soon. I hope I am wrong.

I tend to agree. Reminds me a little of Cortez Allen when he was playing with an injury but didn't tell anyone.

I also don't read too much into his answers to the press. For all we know, he's been coached to respond that way by a media manager or some type. Or he could be petulant. We don't know. Press conferences have essentially become such a waste of time in today's game, everything has to be taken with a pinch of salt.

just because they both ran hurdles doesn't mean everything will work the same for both. i drive a car but it doesn't make me richard petty.:cool:

That’s not the point.
The point being if you’re good at something extraordinary it should help you at something more ordinary.

So to use your logic. Is Petty a better driver because he was a great race car driver? Odds are yes.
I’m sure he has better reflex abilities than some smuck that was able to barely pass their drivers test. He’s probably more aware of situation driving and the ability to avoid an accident. I’m sure there’s a lot of advantages that he has over a normal driver. It certainly doesn’t hurt his ability to drive an ordinary car.

The OP basically suggested that Burns experience at hurdling in no way could help him at his current job. That’s simply false.

Thats true, but to the original point of the OP. It’s wrong to think it doesn’t help.
