Who gives a crap what NFL writers think. It's all BS to fill space or create something out of nothing to get a pay check.

Long ago I dismissed the talking heads about sports. They have to come up with stuff to talk about so their shows continue.

I agree but that list won't last long since their all long in the tooth. Wilson still has some years and of course Brady will play to 50 just to piss me off.

Wentz? Newton? Approach their teams and ask to trade for young Mayfield, Allen,Darnold, Rosen for Ben, you won't get takers. If you take age into account, their are probably 13 teams that wouldn't trade theirs for Ben.

suppose your criteria is, who do I want for this season only? or who do a want to win a title?

Well Ben is 3-6 in playoffs since the SB vs GB. His offense stalls inside the 20, kicks too many FGs, and is almost always closer to league lead in yards than in points. Allegedly with the leagues best OL, best WR and best RB.

Here is the list of guys who've been to a SB since Ben's last time:
Brady, Foles, Ryan, P Manning, Newton, Wilson ,Flacco, Kapernick, E Manning, Rodgers

That's 8 notcounting Peyton and Kapernick who no longer play, and doesn't count Brees who's won since Ben did.

I think Ben is a top 10 QB, but shouldn't a top 10 QB do top 10 QB things? Like have top 10 stats? Like make recent playoff noise? I disagree that hes not top 10, but a sane argument can be made otherwise.

Ben is on the backside of his great career. Sad but true. He's just not the QB he was 5 years ago. Age and injuries catch up with even the best. I, personally, don't think Ben is a top 10 anymore. It is what it is.

Ben has been about middle of the pack so far this year. He obviously can play a lot better and I expect him to.

Yea seriously who cares.. Ben's been under appreciated his whole career by the media why would it be any different now. Hell continue to take the criticism and continue to put up top 5 caliber numbers

Before this week he was number 1 in yards. Only QB with at least 2,000 yards passing

Ok, but as Rocky Blier once said of Franco, give me 10,000 carries, I'll get 10,000 yds.

Where's Ben yd/att ranking? 11th in the league as of now. He led the league yds cuz he thru more passes, despite having the great James Connor in the backfield.

If I was building a team from scratch and could pick any QB in the league, Ben isn`t top 10. Flacco is definitely not ahead of him though. If I wanted a QB for this year only, Ben is top 10, although not by much.

Off the top of my head, I`d take these guys in either scenario

    Luck
    Wilson
    Brees
    Brady
    Rodgers
    Mahomes
    Goff

At his best, Ben can still do more than just about any QB in the game. He was great during the second half of last season, and has had flashes of playing that well for parts of games this year. He just has those crazy brain farts (like at the end of the 1st half vs Atlanta), and has stretches of games where he gets into a funk. If it weren’t for the inconsistency, he’d be top 2 or 3 for me. As it is, he’s still top 10 IMO.

I have high hopes for Ben and this O in the second half of this season. I think they are just scratching the surface. Ben definitely has some things to clean up and the more he uses all his options the better we will be. Now if the D can gradually improve we may be on to something. I think Fichtner is turning the corner and getting more comfortable using the personnel which should make us more unpredictable and productive. Now whether the brain trust of Butler and Tomlin can do their part with the D remains to be seen...

Roethlisberger has struggled for all or parts of almost every game so far. He struggled early last season, too. I also think the elbow is an issue. He has admitted to changing his mechanics to protect it and having to force himself to throw the proper way even though it is painful. That would explain the issues with accuracy in the second half against Baltimore, for example.

Hopefully, the bye week helped at least a little, but I'm guessing we are going to see wild streaks all season.

For this year only, I would not take Luck over Roethlisberger. I might not take Goff, who still has things to prove and is a product of a great system with great talent around him.

Hate to break it to you, but Ben is a product of a great system with great talent around him. Goff has shown plenty. Anyone watching him play knows what he can do. Luck is also playing at least as well as Ben with absolutely no talent around him.

I disagree. Ben elevated the receivers in his younger days with no O line. Still had inconsistencies. As he grew older the inconsistencies grew, but so did the talent around him. More or less balanced him out.

Age + brain farts + fatherhood + banged up body caught up to him. Give us 2004-2009 Ben with this offense and we would be stout.

What is funny is we finally cracked the top 5 in ppg, but still haven't hit 30 ppg. Even then it's not the standard anymore.

    1. KC 37 ppg
    2. NO 34 ppg
    3. RAMS 33 ppg
    4. NE 30 ppg
    5. PIT 28 ppg (OH SO CLOSE!)
