I thought of this discussion as soon as I saw that Ajayi is done for the season. The Eagles are struggling and they just lost their leading rusher. Maybe this is an opportunity to get them to overpay for a season of renting Bell.

I doubt they offer much. They just won a superbowl pressure is off. They might just let a young guy attempt the job.

They were interested in Bell before Ajayi went down. They are reeling and perfect for giving us some picks for the rap giant.

The Eagles just cleared a bunch of cap space by restructuring Fletcher Cox but Schefter said that the Eagles have never and do not expect to pursue a trade for Bell.

Very weird timing with what has happened to them today. If not for Bell, why would they restructure someone now? They have to be making a trade for someone.

Winning a Super Bowl may take some pressure off the players, but it puts pressure on the front office and coach to maintain the success.

I dont put alot of stock in Schefter's reports, Wasnt he just reporting a few weeks ago the Eagles was interisted in trading for Bell and a deal was likely to get done by the trade deadline.

I see him going to philly. Would actually be a good fit for him and would elevate their offense.

I just don’t see how a trade gets done unless the Steelers are completely blown away. If the deal is only for a late 2nd/3rd, I think it’s just better to keep Bell for the 8 games and get the comp pick later on.

That makes no sense, Thomas is on IR and will be a free agent in 2019. Thomas isn't eligible to be traded anyway, he can't pass a physical .

He only reported that they were interested. Schefter is legit, IMO.

I'd be very happy with a 2nd. A late 2nd is a lot better than a comp 3rd which is all the way at the bottom of the round.

Eagles are now inquiring about David Johnson from the Cardinals.

Unlike Bell though, David already has a contract extension (38.1 million over these next three years).

That being said, I still would not rule Bell out entirely.

I don't either. And teams won budge on a guy they know they can more than likely get for free in the offseason.

Wow. The Eagles would be good with Bell but Johnson is a near-perfect fit for their offense.

We’re not assured of getting any comp pick for Bell in 2020. We may want to add a piece or two via free agency to complete our defense, and free agent signings offset free agent losses in the NFL’s comp pick formula. Planning for a comp pick for Bell would tie our hands in free agency this upcoming offseason.

Because of that, I’d take a 2019 4th rounder, cap space to carry over to next year, and freedom to sign FAs without worrying about how it would affect our 2020 comp picks rather than hope for a 2020 end of 3rd round comp pick. Cut the cord.

Okay, if the Eagles trade for D. Johnson maybe the Steelers can work out a trade with Steelers west. Bell for Patrick Peterson has a nice ring to it (and would never happen in a million years).

I’m not sure where this David Johnson talk is coming from. Did Arizona say he was open to be traded?

If not, there is no way they will. He’s one of their lone young bright spots on their team and someone to build around with Rosen. I see no scenario that they would get rid of him.

Nobody wants Bell & his baggage. Too many better long-term options.

Probably time that the OP changed the name of this thread since neither part of the title have any reality basis at this time. Certainly worthy of continuing the discussion but not under the original premise. OK, just call me Rainman. ;)

Bell will go to Philly. Philly is just putting up smoke screen to drive his asking price down. I read somewhere they are working a trade with Buffalo for Shady. They are trying to defend the title not play for a draft pick. I like what Elvis said, cut the cord get what we can. The 3rd round comp pick is not guaranteed.
