My only guess is that they want him in there to call the defense and manage communications. I sort of get it, but no matter how smart he is, or how well he understands the defense, he’s just not talented enough to be anything but a core special teamer.

Not the avenue I would go, Fort and Thomas yes. Dirty Red is not what I am looking for at this time.

Good ball player but not starter capable.

It makes no sense to start Matakevich, Fort should start followed with some snaps by Matthew Thomas.

Got to think they will have to come off of that plan. Fort has been around long enough to have the dot and play the majority of the snaps.

Red has a good nose for the ball, but he is very limited, athletically.

Hopefully the game plan involves a heavy dose of sub package football and Fort plays the majority. If a heavy dose of Big Red is what Butler and Co. thinks will be the answer its no wonder they can't scout a defensive player.

I'm in favor of Fort over Matakevich. I don't get the mocking of Tyler or hate the guy. I just don't think he's as good as Fort as a starter on defense. He's doing great on special teams.

As for Matt Thomas, I'm still not sure why they haven't got him in for some plays.
