As a Pitt Alumni, I suffer along with the football program. It shouldn't be this way, but when you have a college with a winning football program on your resume, it makes a big difference. You attract more interest from the people that are doing the hiring. If I had Notre Dame, or Ohio State on my resume, I'd feel more confident about things. We are the University Of Pittsburgh, a big urban campus, with all the facilities, and a ton of money to spend, why the heck do we not have an elite football program?? I ask myself that all the time.

Congrats Panther Alum. My Dad and I had Pitt season tix for several years in the early to mid 60's when I was just a tadpole. I was so impressed with the student support and college environment over at and around Pitt Stadium. I really wanted to go to Pitt as a result but we moved to California and I went to college out here. I did get to watch Jim Zorn play QB at my school before playing for the Seahawks for several years. What's so ironic about Pitt is they have spawned so many great individual players who have gone on to successful NFL careers but they can't seem to put together a solid team or season. Lack of a decent QB and head coach have been a real issue for way too many years. How they beat Clemson and Penn St 2 years ago (both finished in top 5) and Miami last year yet continue to falter against mediocre ACC teams I'll never know. Hope the Steelers can contain one of my favorite recent Pitt players, Tyler Boyd, this Sunday. HTP.
