    Tell me about it.

Time truly does fly. For that matter, boy oh boy has the game changed since those two left.

2005-2012 the Steelers and Ravens rivalry was just down right something else

One more quick little tibit of NFL History. Not too many people remember but it likely would have yielded unimaginable change within the AFC North and the NFL as a whole.

Initially, the Baltimore Ravens had the intent on picking Troy for pick number 17 back in the 2003 NFL Draft. Pittsburgh, fearing that they could potentially have an IMMENSE problem with both Ed and Troy in addition to pairing up with then Chris Hope, elected to trade with the Kansas City Chiefs to leap frog their arch rival.

The rest is history. However, things would have changed for me big time had Troy been selected to the Ravens. Thankfully though, I need not ponder such a possibility.

    Sure was!!

I only saw the years 2008-2012. Remember hearing how violent though those 2005-2007 years were.

He sure doesn't look like a guy who would play with attitude in the NFL. Talking about Ward not the other guy.

The title of this thread sounds like the opening line if a joke: A rabbi, a street bum and Hines Ward walk into a bar .....

That Street bum is probably the 2nd best safety I have ever seen play in my lifetime.

Interesting idea of the two of them ( Troy and Ed ) in one backfield ours of course. Two interception and turnover machines might have been scary for opponents.
With both of them together we might have had a defense that averaged less than 7 pts a game.

I didn't like Reed only because he played for the wrong team, but I always respected his talent.

Imagine sitting down to dinner with those two in the picture and listening to inside stories of how bitter that rivalry was back then. I remember some games where the announcers were saying they are hitting like its a playoff game and it might have been the fifth game of the season.

Today the field would be littered with flags and the game would take 4 hrs to play, dam how its changed .

I think that defense would’ve scored more than 7 per game.

AH Troy isn't the safety I am thinking about. Ronnie Lott is.
