These videos of Troy made me nostalgic - nothing like that on the team today

IMO, Without Troy, the Steelers don't win the last 2 trophies (because they wouldn't have been there to play for them). I'm not sure I'd say that regarding the other players you mentioned.

Without woodson bmore doesnt win in 00. Witout lott the 49ers dont win 4 sbsaybe would have won 2 but he solidified their vastly underrated defense. Guy was an all pro 1st teamer at corner and both safety positions. Ravens obviously dont win the last chip without Reed. But pitt also doesn't win without troy.

I was more referring to them playing in Troy's spot than for their respective teams, but I agree with what you're saying.

I saw Ed Reed play, Rod Woodson play, Ronnie Lott play. I never saw any of them do the things Troy could do. Yet, I saw Troy do things THEY all did. Troy could ballhawk like Ed Reed when he needed to. Troy could tackle on the ends like Rod Woodson and he could lay the wood like Ronnie Lott.

Whenever Ed Reed was injured, the Ravens defense didnt drop off too much. When Troy was out, the defense fell apart. (Aaron Smith had that effect too).

You wanna call me a homer, fine. I know what I saw. I saw a football player on defense I never seen before and I doubt we will ever see again. He is the Barry Sanders of defense. Only real description I could correlate him to because I only saw one running back do the things Barry did, and that was him and only him.

If woodson played safety in his prime he might have been better than Reed... Reed was the best actual ball hawk I have ever seen

Lets not get crazy with troys ball hawking skills.... True he was good but nowhere in reeds class...... troy was fine playing zone but could never actually play man like reed. Teams would not be worried about troy and actually had sigh of relief when they saw him lining up in coverage away from line of scrimmage....... teams would not throw to Ed reeds side of field........
