Gary Jones used hit like a truck! He could never play in this league now.

 

If he were to have played this year, he'd have some hefty fines already.

 

I remember those hits Gary put on Don Beebe of the Bills on MNF.

 

Oh my. I forgot them until just now. There was one on the sideline where I thought he killed him, kind of like that guy running into the wall last night. That **** was scary.

 

There is a gift now highlighting Heyward's face on the sideline as it happens. Priceless

That stiff arm did sorta remind me of when Adrian Peterson trucked William Gay.

I figured the Vance McDonald stiff arm was too sweet not to re-up my profile picture. Of course it was replacing Bud Dupree, which most would suggest was an easy decision to make


I'm looking forward to the new Madden giving Vance a 1000 stiff arm rating. He's just pushing players out of stadiums. Like Bo Jackson in Techmo Bowl. Can't be stopped.

Interesting. They were trying to add additional space for the force of the blow to be absorbed into as opposed to the energy/"work" being done on his brain. No matter how much we know with physics, we just haven't been able to make it safe for two grown men slamming into each other at full speed.

In all seriousness, Beebe obviously had one hell of a concussion and most likely with long-term consequences. So I'm not all that adverse to new rules making the game safer for players, even if it impacts the game negatively. It'd be nice if he didn't forget his kids names by age 50. I do think that some of the new rules are over-the-top however.

At the end of the day, it is an aggressive sport that's based on hitting other people and taking on hits.
