Except I'm surprised it wasn't flagged for a late hit.

I was surprised, too. I just meant that the form on the play was what the league is looking for with the new rules.

Watt's best skill is rushing the passer. Did they even let him do that last night? Our D scheme is terrible. Beyond that, it's hard to judge much else.

Watt had a bad game but I think everyone is hyperanalyzing it here. He's been one the better drop in coverage OLB I've seen and he rushes the passer with multiple moves (more than Dupree).

Just had a bad game. I expect there will be quite a few this year where we think he is a god.

Well if given the choice between Bostic , VW or Watt covering the TE....I'll take Watt It was part of the strategy to bring pressure up the middle and in Fitz's face . I would say it worked at least in the first half. At least they didn't try to underestimate Fitz's intelligence. I gotta give credit when a strategy pays off...

Those guys were gassed in the 4th qtr, the team only using 3 OLB right now. What does Matthew Thomas have to do to get on the field?

That is what I've been wondering. I think his athleticism could give them a boost on defense.

Thomas can't be any worse than Bostic in coverage, maybe he doesn't know the defense well enough to get on the field.

this exact point was made today on Skip and Shannon I believe. Said the Steelers DB's ball awareness is very lacking. I know we're talking Watt but just thought it was interesting.

Fair enough. I was very happy to see the pressure... because I don't think we bring nearly enough. Just to tie in both of our posts.

Even better: Pressure from Dan McCullers forced Bud's pick 6!

The defense is flawed as heck and is filled with talented athletes who have relatively low football IQs. That being said, Watt is not one of them. He's allowed to have bad games... and it's not his fault that Tomlin's defense (as constructed) doesn't play to his strengthens.

Does anyone look like they know the defense? Aside from opposing QBs, that is.

If I were an opposing OC, I'd pay to Kevin Butler to put Watt in coverage in passing situations instead of rushing the QB.

Not worried about TJ. Among the defenders on the team, he is the second least of my worries; Cameron Heyward being the absolute least.

    As I said, not worried.

I do not look at either or from one game. I look at them based on what I have seen thus far and will continue to do so for the remainder of the season.

In short? Should this continue for both for another two to three weeks for the duration of the season, then I will be concerned. Until then, no worried.

Cam, Tuiit and Hargrave, shut the run down and shut it hard and then were drawing dbl teams all night. I think the rush would have been better if they had ripped some instead of crashing the pocket together where the linemen could utilize each other to give Fitz more time.
