Get a player, not a pick. Colbert and Tomlin have shown they don't know how to draft. Trade him for somebody that someone else drafted.

There will always be a team that thinks they can change his attitude. Look at all the headcases and idiots who got cut/ became free agents who got signed, just because they could ball.

The second part of your post defeats the first part; if a team trades for him and his rights, they will throw a big contract at him. This guarantees the signing team that he doesn’t get to free agency and choose a big contract with what he thinks is a better team.

Didn't you spend the entire off season saying Leveon Bell is the best back in the league? Now you are saying no other team wants him? Which is it?

No one has to give up 2 first round picks. The Steelers can negotiate compensation. Someone will give up a package of picks to get Bell. This will cost nothing against the Steelers cap because there is no scenario where he plays here. Worse case scenario is Bell can't find a deal he likes, or the Steelers don't get compensation they like. In that case the Steelers could just rescind the tag. Steelers don't hold all the cards, but they still have a hand to play.

If the steelers can send his fat ass outta here on his jetski for a 2nd rounder, i'd be satisfied and print woodson on my jersey.

They can't throw a big contract at him until after the season when he is a free agent. They might as well wait until then and not give anything up.

Good post that I totally agree with.Don’t even think the team that traded for him would have the inside track as he’s all about who will pay him the most next year!It makes no sense for a team to give up much for him while he’s saving his body for next year.Huge character issues!

But it's not up to the signing team. Bell holds the cards I'm whether he's traded or not.

Then you run the risk of getting in a bidding war with 4-5 other teams.

No...If you don't trade for him, and want him....You may not get him because...Bell is going to the team that offers the most money period...Winning or potential does not factor in...Money, and only money matters...He has proven that

They own him because they tagged him. They can trade his rights to another team. in which case, that team now deals with the knuckle head.

And if they just rescind the tag they like I originally pointed out lose. I do think he is the best back in the nfl but I'm sorry no rb right now is worth 2 first rd picks. Not even Zeke, Gurley, or saquon.. you cant negotiate you have to give up 2 first rd picks if the other team doesn't match the offer sheet.. the only way they could possibly negotiate is if he signed the tag and it was a sign and trade type of deal which after how things went I doubt he would do. It's bad blood on both sides.

Just lost all credibility. They CANNOT TRADE HIM until he signs the franchise tag. What part of that dont you understand. Just because a team tags you doesnt mean you have to sign the tag..

If you can do better than the 3rd round 2020 comp pick move him. Being the situation what it is, the return value is going go very marginal at best. But, the saga needs to end.
Unless there a verteran corner that’s decent, I’d trade for that too even if he’s not signed for long term.

I disagree. He’s unsigned—he’s not a Steeler right now. The Steelers currently are the only club he can sign for (while the tag tender is still alive). BUT...until he signs and is on the Steelers roster, they do not hold a trade right.

Why does it HAVE to be 2 1st round picks?

You can negotiate. The team that signs Bell does not have to give up 2 first round picks. That is negotiable. The Steelers won't have to rescind the tag because someone is going to give Bell what he wants. The Steelers are not going to walk away from this empty handed, they are too smart for that.

That's what the tag rules are. Very stupid but they tried to do everything they can to protect teams

    I don't think so.

AB is not doing what Bell is. AB came out in support for the franchise after his situation.

If they can get something for Bell, great.

I still think his strategy is to wait until after the trade deadline and play the rest of the year out so he can hit free agency. It is possible, however they've been talking to him/his agent to see where he'd be willing to be traded to.

Whatever team trades for him, will be in the same situation as Pittsburgh. He'll have to play on the tag and negotiations couldn't occur until the offseason.

Any team that'd get him could franchise tag him for the 22 mil or whatever it is for a third consecutive franchise tag. At least that is my current understanding.

If the Steelers wanted to keep Bell and another team signed him to a tender the Steelers could insist on the 2 first round picks as compensation. That's not the case here. The Steelers can take less if they want.

Yeah they do if they sign him while he's under the non exclusive tag and Pitt doesn't match the offer. They are not in position to NEGOTIATE unless bell signs the franchise tag under pitt and then they TRADE HIM to another team. You need to do your research on franchise tags. You cannot negotiate any deals regarding trades with a player not signed under your roster.

This is not true. You are missing the point. They are not negotiating a deal with Bell. They are negotiating compensation with the team that signs Bell. Yes they can do that. It dosent have to be 2, 1st rounders.
