Ed Bouchette Just reported if he doesn't report at all this season the steelers could tag him next year and if they decide not to he will be came a free agent next season. (HE WONT BE TAGGED AGAIN) steelers wont want to go threw this again

We have seen the last of him. Sell your Bell jersey while its still worth something

I believe the Steelers absolutely will tag Bell next year. It's the only way they can get something for him. The Steelers can get at least a first round pick, possibly more for Bell if they tender him so that he can negotiate with other teams.

Either way Bell has played his last down for the Steelers. If he comes back after week 10 he will be inactive. I'm not sure he does come back. He could just sit the whole thing out. Based on the pictures we all keep seeing he sure dosent look like someone who is planning on playing ball this year.

As for the jerseys, they are already worthless, unless you know a good seamstress who can sew a Woodson on the back of them.

This is old news, of course, if Bell doesn't report at all this year, he doesn't accrue his year for free-agency. Steelers wouldn't be out any money because he hasn't sign yet, but not sure they'd give him the franchise again after being a year removed from football. Kinda hard to sharpen those football skills in strip clubs and jet skis.

Plus the tag will be like 20 mill next year
. I'd say tag him again to keep effing him over but not at that price

If he sat out the whole year the tag amount should be the same unless Gurley's new deal somehow factors in.

I know it would have been well over 20 million if they tagged him for three straight years but this wouldn't count as three if he sits out this entire year.

He will be here week 10. He wants to get his eligibility in, then he will be gone.

The only way this will be different. Is if he gets tired of passing up $855,000 a week. or if the Steelers get tired of the story line, and decide that it's not worth waiting it out for a 3rd round comp. pick for 2020.

The whole ordeal is like a divorcing couple who can't divorce because of the money and return aspect.

I've been avoiding these threads but... what happens if he shows up out of shape? Is that in violation of the terms of the franchise tag (and so presumably he would not accrue)?

Well.....I guess I won't be needing the signed 8x10 of Bell the Fan Club sent me instead of the trading card I sent down to the stadium for him to sign last year. :)

Bell is committing career suicide, IMO. He may never play football again. If you remember, he said those words himself, he'd just focus on his rap career.

By sitting out the way he is, he's severely hurting his chances for that big pay day he covets. I agree with this guy.

So if he doesn't get the contract he wants next year either, would he just walk away all together? I think he would.

If he sits out all of this year... any NFL team worth their weight would be insane to sign Bell to what he is asking for.

I don't think there is anything written about being fat or out of shape into these things.

Someone will. Someone always does. There will be a team that will think Bell can solve all their problems. He will get his money, play a couple of subpar seasons, and then fade away.

I believe the franchise tag is for 17.5 million next year. Let him sit this year and next.

Correct, if Bells sits the whole year they can tag him for the same amount next year.
If he reports for the minimum amount of games this year the Steelers could slap the transition tag on him which would bump up his salary to around 17.5mil.

I like that option. At this point, anything to make life more difficult for Bell sounds good to me.

I’d bring willing to try, but at my age, I’d probably break something at either one.

Non exclusive tag would be my guess.
