When are going to teach them how to defend against the pass. This whole team is a mess today.

Disgusting!! I don't complain when we have good coverage and get beat by a great reception but today I think I could have pulled down a few from our secondary.

As soon as we teach Colbert how to stop wasting picks on the ones who can't play in this league.

He was easy to find missing two tackles on the Chiefs' third touchdown drive, including the touchdown.

Why can't the Steelers make a trade with Seattle Le'von Bell for Earl Thomas. This
    would improve our secondary dramatically.

he will just be coached to play out of position. these players are not smart enough on their own to think a TE running down the middle of the field uncovered time and time again isnt a problem. or is it the coach isnt smart enough to say hey guys we need to cover the big guy running down the field all alone play after play.

KB: earl dont cover a big TE running down the seam all day.

Earl: but coach that doesnt sound right.

KB: earl isnt ready to play in my system yet.

If the two safeties are truly the biggest concern then I suppose the remaining aspects of the defense should be forgiven right?

The issue is clearly lack of communication in the secondary not the quality of players. Colbert has drafted for athletic abilities.

Here is an interesting comparison of Artie Burns to other CBs picked in the 2016 draft
    https://www.behindthesteelcurtain.c...in-the-2016-draft-class-jalen-ramsey-steelers

He was a projected 1st or 2nd round pick.
    http://www.nfl.com/draft/2016/profiles/artie-burns?id=2555344

    Sean Davis
    http://www.nfl.com/draft/2016/profiles/sean-davis?id=2555386

    Cam Sutton
    http://www.nfl.com/draft/2017/profiles/cameron-sutton?id=2557902

I don't blame the picks. The issue is clearly in my mind the defensive coaching. These guys are not acting as a unit.

I'm sure if Jalen Ramsey was available they would have taken him. He was a top 5 pick however.

this defense has a potential to be a average to good defense. Average defense is all we need! Offense has to stop being stupid, defense needs to be average and special teams need to do their jobs. They can turn it around just not sure the distractions will let them this year, or next, or even in 2030 when Tomlin is awarded an Oscar for most believable BS after falling 4-12 the 3rd straight year.

In the first play I see Sutton pushing Watkins to the outside where Davis can't get him help, and Davis hesitates for a beat, which is more than he can make up for.
Second play Williams lets Kelce run right around him, he doesn't even get a hand on Kelce. Sutton and Bostic react too slow. I think it's a combination of both scheme and players. It's bad all over.

And did you see unmolested and wide-open:
    1. the RB was on the Watkins play?
    2. THill was on the Kelce TD?!

After reading the draft analysis it seems most are raw or projects or positional tweeners although most have athleticism .

This could work out perfectly with good positional coaching but it seems obvious we don't have any on the defensive side.

There were times when Davis was starting as a rookie that I though wow this guy can flat out play, now he looks lost and confused.

Sadly too many of our top draft picks appear to regress the longer they are being coached by our defensive coaches.

Bud the dud has the physical tools but still hasn't developed any more pass rush moves then what he had when he came into the league.

I am old enough to remember a few bad defenses but that was a lack of talent not a defense that looks to be 11 individuals totally out of sync with each other. To give up a 14 pt lead to the Browns then get shredded by Mahomes in what his second or third career start.

Against KC the defense looked as if it was their first practice together EVER.
