    https://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2018/9/9/17838778/leveon-bell-tweet-steelers-browns

I decided to make an official thread on this. We're going to revisit it as the year progresses.. From the article (an option shared by some on this board)

Regarding speculation of Bell's "monocle" emoji.

"Bell was calling out his quarterback, who was (and maybe is) terrible."

As posted elsewhere, in a 15 year span

Ben is 9th best EVER in career passer rating and TDs

Ben is 8th best EVER in passing yards.

And people want to take this performance and suggest he is "terrible".

Ok... We will revisit this thread. Week to week.

And we'll see how terrible he is. I will call out the names of posters with quoted texts.

I will have a lot of fun doing it also.

Good Ben vs bad Ben. Bad Ben shows up more on the road.

Ben is aging and he has taken a hell of a pounding over the years. Still think he can keep us in the AFC North mix. Time will tell but if it's going to be a bad season then I hope he goes down early so our future QB can get some games in.

no bell, no bryant, no eli, no mcdonald. i visited this earlier in the preseason. we dont have the firepower of last year or bens comfort level YET in this new lineup. i knew there would be some forcing it to AB. thats just bens nature. he likes his security blankets.

i think him skipping a lot of preseason and taking practice days off with new personnel and OC is kind of foolish. Even after 15 years in the league, you need to adjust to a slightly different system and personnel instead of smoking and joking all preseason with your pads off. Tom brady was in there slinging it for a whole half in the 2nd game of the preseason. I do think Ben bounces back. However, you have no excuse turning the ball over that many times. none

Should trade him to GB for defence...looks like Rodgers is hurt... they pulled a Ben and Tomlin by throwing him back Into a 20-0 game

Ben was absolutely terrible to begin the season last year too. Perhaps it's due to him not taking off season and pre-season seriously (and Mike Tomlin clearly not taking it seriously either). We don't have a time machine so we'll never know if playing in the pre-season would have helped or not, but it's so annoying seeing the same **** year after year and there not being any improvement or changes. Losing to inferior opponents hurts our chances at getting home field advantage. There's about a 5% chance we go into NE and win in the playoffs. I would say our chances of beating them are much better at home. These games against inferior teams matter, yet the Steelers just don't seem to realize it.

As for the thread title, nowhere in that article did it seriously say that Ben sucks. Read the whole article, all of those points were lame jokes and false interpretations as to what Bell's tweet meant.

Ben is a future HOFer but he absolutely was terrible yesterday. I don't see what is wrong with pointing that out.

Nothing wrong with that at all, a 15 year pro playing like a rookie with 5 turnovers should be a cause for concern with KC coming to town next sunday, and this vanilla defense shoud really be concerned with Mahomes slinging TDs like a 15 year pro, TJ needs to get after him and this secondary is the perfect set up for Mahomes to use for his pin cushion.......

I hate to make excuses, but yesterday's game sure makes it seem like it was a mistake to give Roethlisberger so little playing time this preseason. He was out of sync so often.

Roethlisberger should be fine, but the Steelers don't have half a season to wait this time. The schedules is too unforgiving.

Myles Garrett helps Ben even less. That dude, like TJ Watt, has DPOY potential. He is going to make quite a number of offensive tackles look silly.

I mean, the conservative play calling before and during the drive of the fumble of James Conner did not assist much either.

Within the same vein, Ben was quite off; way off in fact.

I know I'm in the DEEP minority here..Alot of people hated Haley, especially Ben...But, He kept him healthy, and helped produce some of the best stats of his career...

But petulant Ben didn't like him because HE told Ben what to do, so Ben again got what he wanted...Another Buddy, like Arians was...

It's only one game... But, " doing/ getting what he wants/ doing what he wants Ben" "...Looked terrible...

I will hold judgement being it only one game...To see how this plays out

I think the lack of preseason preparation was a factor. The weather seemed to bother him, too.

Haley definitely doesn't get enough credit for the improvements he made in Roethlisberger's game. One would hope a quarterback with that much experience wouldn't lose that so easily.

I will never understand or be convinced, especially how we know how Ben starts the season slow and his need to get into game speed takes a while, why why, why don't we play him more than a quarter in 4 preseason games. I know he gets the reps in practice but thats not the same in actual game speed where they are coming after you harder and faster.

This is on Ben, Tomlin, and the O Coordinators for not seeing this since it has been going on for years now. We were fortunate in years past that we didn't loose more games in the beginning of the seasons. Ben usually takes 2 to 3 games to get in full stride.

getting conservative on 1st and 2nd down and putting ourselves in a passing situation on 3rd down didn't help ben at all. they knew what was coming the whole second half. mixing it up to help keep them from pinning their ears back on 3rd down would help keep ben upright. just a bad game plan at that point i thought.
