Football critics are all armchair psychologists. Or, at least, they think they are.

So, daddy forced you to watch football and be a Steeler's fan and you couldn't play video games when the Steelers were playing. Well, I give you permission to go play the video games that you wanted to play when you were young. You don't have to pretend to be a fan of a team you resent anymore.

I hear the Fortnite game is really popular now. Have at it.

After reading this whole thread, I can honestly say I've never seen so many straw man points laid out by one person just to place himself above people as some sort of "true fan."

And believe me. We've seen plenty over the years.

You seem to fail to understand the whole premise of a DISCUSSION board. So some people focus on the negatives. So what? If they're unreasonable they get laughed at. Others harp on things that have been a pet peeve for years. Again, so what? Agree, make an argument against, whatever. It's a discussion.

And yeah. Some people are never happy. Some are trolls. Still part of the message board experience. Maybe you should take your own advice and accept what you can't change. Or maybe the internet isn't for you.

I have to say it at least once a season:

    Get over yourself.

It's nothing to get worked up over. The negative stuff can be entertaining, like a self-deprecating comedian.

Wow nicely said. If I could rate it higher than winner I would.....I say the same thing every year as well about people complaining about people being worse. This is a prime example. If it's not your cup of tea, don't drink it....he just doesn't grasp the concept of how this works. It's not how it works...it's not how any of this works :smiley1:

    Welcome to the board.

I disagree about Tomlin. I think he's one of the best coaches in the league. We'll agree to disagree.

I do agree that Tomlin could be better about discipline among his players. I think he's on a better track with that I'm hoping to see further improvement.

The Steelers were heavily penalized in game 1, but so were the Browns. The officiating left much to be desired on both sides of the ball. Still, the team should button up to overcome those occurrences with officiating. Because any given game could produce that effect from the refs.

I agree that Conner looks promising.

Overall, I liked what I saw from the team in game 1. There are definitely improvements to be made. I think the team will make the necessary adjustments.

I think Tomlin has done a good job of dealing with players causing distractions (whether intentional, or not): 1) Martavis Bryant being released and fielding Switzer (I like his returns; I look forward to seeing him targeted more by Ben), 2) RB position shored up since Bell is exercising other options, and 3) A solid defensive front based on having lost Shazier.

I think Ben will bounce back in a strong way. He may be older and he may be a gun-slinger. But the guy is a competitor, without doubt. And he still has the athleticism to put up big numbers. And believe he will lead a charge to push the Steelers back into the post-season.

Yes, tying the Browns sucked. But this is far from the end of the season.

    :herewego:

Then explain to all of us why you hate the Steelers so much. Even though the internet makes this completely anonymous I know you can't be honest. Men can't say "Daddy forced me participate in sports but I didn't like to play sports."

People like you pay therapists thousands of dollars for years even though they tell you your problem in the first week. You think you're so complex that it takes years to figure you out. It doesn't.

Oh I didn't realize you knew the OP personally. Yeah he must be a real jerk, but I gotta give it to him,he's calculated and patient. He waited years and years for this exact game to pounce and what a vicious attack on the Steeler franchise it was.....The truth is you don't know anything about the OP and you have no idea why he chose today for his first post. You don't know anything about his life or his circumstances but your gonna slap a label on him anyway. Quit being so defensive,it's weird. It's ok it not a personal attack. Why are you treating it like one?

I didn't say the sports industry. I said sports radio and television which essentially is what this message board is....sports talk, IS based on conjecture and opinion. The debate is part of what makes it fun but I guess you'd rather sit around and sing Steeler Polka songs and give out "daddy" size hugs and bibles
I'm glad you have all the toys you want and good luck with the P-51 . While your at it see if you can get your hands on a Q-36 SM because your way of thinking is out there.....

Even if the negativity is constant?

Dangerfield was funny because he put himself down, not $1 billion sports franchises that have won more Super Bowls than any other team.

I'm complaining about people who ALWAYS complain. There isn't a single thing they like about the team. I've asked Mustard multiple times if there is anything he likes about the Steelers. He never lists a single thing.

What is the difference between a Steeler fan who hates the Steelers and a Ravens fan?

So, for a third time you can't list a single thing that you like about the Steelers.

There isn't even one thing, is there?

How about the uniforms? Oh, wait, you like the Patriots uniforms better.

So you think a Steeler Fans Forum should be a place where only haters come to complain about the team? That's the Raven's board.

This. I get some constructive criticism, but some of the people live to complain and it’s not so much the complaining it’s the repetitive stuff.

I don't know why the OP waited years to post? He stated in his post that he is frustrated because we didn't win and that Tomlin is horrible and Ben is regressing. Maybe you should have actually read the whole thing?

This is sports talk? It is, and people who hate the Steelers are getting called out. What is the difference between a Steeler fan who always hates on the Steelers and a Raven's fan? Nothing.

Good luck with the P-51? It's not about luck. Luck is a pipedream for gamblers who never figured out that the house has the advantage.

I should get an Illudium Q-36 Space Modulator? I preferred the sticks that shot rubber bands.

Once in a while you would think even the most diehard Steeler hater would find something good to say about the team. Even a Raven's fan might congratulate us on a victory.

He never does. Ever. Nothing is ever good enough.

I didn't say that....I didn't say anything close to that. To you some people who criticize the team are haters. To me they are people with their own minds to make up that also have a right to express it. You say you are " only " complaining about the people who "always " complain. The OP has I think 3 posts....so he fits in that category? or you just want to complain? Personally I don't care if you want to debate with the " haters and fans that can't be " real " fans because they have their own opinions. I just really would appreciate it being done in civil and rational manner. That's what I would like to see ....but you know what if it's not a realistic expectation that's fine I just won't read it or I will ignore it or whatever. I do know the thing I won't do is go off on somebody and questions their fan status simply because I disagree...

This is the most ironic, oxmoronic contradiction I have seen since joining in 2016.

I must say Heinz, very impressive.
