Some teams are ok with just being good for a couple years where as some teams try go all in for a at least a ring and then start over. I'd take the ring over being just good for a few years. I'll take philly's one season last yr with their previous years of mediocrity in the decade over all the years we had have recently had with coming up short in the playoffs.

If he shows up week 8 we get him for 7 million and that’s cheap to help us win the SB. Then we tag him again next year just to **** with him.

Steelers have been that way since 91, long before Ben.

And ben has never been that guy that could carry a team like a brady or Rodgers. He's more of a troy aikman kind of guy.

What? So the steelers will just let a player show up when he feels like it causing all these locker room problems. If that's the case you just debunked your whole argument.

Sorry gang it's all my fault. See, I flushed Bell down the toilet yesterday and I'm pretty sure my sewer line in California don't tie in to Pennsylvania so it could be awhile before he makes it back #turd!

Steelers can't trade him since he's not officially on the roster. They won't rescind the tag to make him an FA and risk him going to an AFC team. Bell will most likely sign on Saturday to get the full guaranteed franchise tag money. Even if he's benched, he would still get paid.

Wrong. We were not a guranteed playoff team every year in the 80s and 90s. We had several bad years in those times frames in between the good ones.

No they would have to come to an agreement to sign and trade. No way to trade a player with no contract.

Read it slower. I said since 91’ and it’s an absolute fact. You just weren’t around for it.

According to Bell's agent, he most likely won't report until the last possible moment to get credit for the season. Listening to some of the talking heads like Adam Crawley, the Steelers should just throw in the towel cause they're not even going to win the division! Bell is really good but I agree with Ben in that the "team" is more than one guy

Who is the last team to win a SB with a top RB......maybe Seattle when they ripped Denver, but that was all D. I could of been their RB. You might have to go back to Denver with TD....

Steelers wouldn't tag him another year. It would cost the team 17.5mil if they did that.

We sucked 98, 99, 2000. The colts in Manning's prime never sucked. The Pat's in bradys prime never sucked. The packers since Rodgers has started majority of the season have been in the playoffs literally every year. You could literally pencil teams with elite QBs in. The Montanas, elways, Manning's, bradys of the world. You couldnt pencil us in the 90s we missed the playoffs several times in the 90s.

Yes but it might be a chance worth taking...it's not really much more and he wouldn't sign anyway and most likely someone will be dumb enough to swoop in and give him a contract and we then get a 1st round pick as compensation...

You know he ain’t going to show up till after camp is over at the earliest. So just pull the tag at some point. Just gives him less opportunity to find a team willing to pay.

You keep missing the point that the Steelers have been doing business like this for decades and they are the most successful franchise in the league....how can you argue with the way they do business .
