I completely agree on the guaranteed money thing. Heyward didnt have a bunch of garunteed money, but he ran into some at the beginning of this year with the restructuring of his contract. I imagine of the dip**** bell would have signed he prolly would have ran into to some of that down the road as well.

I don't see how they can punish him for conduct detrimental to the team when the conduct was something that occurred when he was not a member of the team. This is not like Mack sitting out while he is under contract. Bell is not under contract. Until Bell signs the franchise tag he is not a member of the team. People on here don't like it because we are fans of the Steelers and this doesn't help the Steelers but Bell is doing nothing wrong according to the CBA. He is well within his rights to sit out the first 10 games and then sign the tag and get his accrued year. I hope like hell he doesn't do it but if he does there really isn't anything the Steelers can do to punish him other than not play him once he gets back. I think there is pretty close to a 0% chance of the Steelers doing that.

Yeah, I don't see them doing that but I guess they could. Personally I would welcome back Bell for a playoff run (assuming we are still in the race). Who knows? Maybe having him rested and fully healthy would work out in the team's favor.

They got his services for the year and then he became a free agent. The example doesn't work. Cousins worked within the system and worked it to his advantage. In the end the Redskins paid a lot of money hoping for a deal and championship caliber play. They didnt get either and chose to go another way.

if we are in a playoff run after 10 games, i would never sign him at that point and slap the face of the guys that got us that far. that would send a bad message.

They can pull the tag anytime if it remains unsigned, I dont know if Bell is willing to lose 900K a game by sitting out but time will tell.....

Woodson was willing to sign a 'prove it' contract, based on his performance only, not the performance of the team (which is what the FO offered him). According to Rod, he never heard back from the Steelers FO from that point forward and had to move on with other offers. He played a couple more seasons at corner before he was moved to safety.

He played 1 season at CB in San Francisco and then signed with the ratbirds and switched to free safety.

He should serve as an example to other players. Don’t hire an agent that’s dumb. He will cost you in the long run.

I thought he played corner his first year in Baltimore, then they moved him to safety in '99 when they drafted Mcalister. (I could be wrong)

There should be 3rd option. Bell is still playing by the rules, but I am also tired of it.

I am 100% ok with then trading him to the highest bidder once he signs. Bell won't be on the team next year so might as well get what you can get now.

If things go as planned Bell would be sitting week17 getting ready for playoffs. He looks to be sitting week 1 as he refuses to show up. He is already down to a 14 game season. Let's assume takes 2 weeks to get up to speed....15mill for 12 games of solid work. Ill take a couple of first round picks maybe a 2nd or 3rd and ride with Conner.

Bell is playing within the rules, but he is also putting his teammates under the bus. He is being a distraction to the entire team. He is holding the team's 15 million set aside for him hostage. Steelers can't use it. Just sitting there waiting for the day he signs.

Are the Steelers a better team with Bell? I think so... but I have seen many Super Bowls in my life and never have I seen Bell in one. So looks like teams somehow win without him.

Trade him for a kings bounty as soon as he signs... or win the Super Bowl with him. I'll be happy with either. Anything less was a waste of 15 mill.

It's clear that bell is saving himself for his next team...
I say let Bell watch JC run for 1,100 yds and catch 50 passes in the 10 games that he sits out.. when he reports on week 11 to sign his tender, rescind it in front of him and show him the front door

Pull the offer. Ok you sat out now report and get to work. If he does not want to do that let him go and use the money elsewhere next season. Hes selfish and if he is willing to leave 900k on the table every week let him sign with someone else. He will not be as good anywhere else that has the money to sign him. There is a reasons they have money its because they stink and don't have weapons to draw defenses and coverage's away already. Im tired of his attitude and his agent is a moron. At this point I don't care if they get anything for him.

So much for Pouncey’s quote”He’ll be here on Wednesday, count on it!”I know players cover and support each other which they should but deep down inside they have to be saying”the guy is letting us down!”
