I feel they franchised Bell due to they are on the cusp of a Super Bowl berth, also a change in offensive coordinators.

They tried to work out a deal with the rap giant but as he rhymed he wants 17.

Yes he is a head case but also a talent that could propel them to a 7th Lombardi.

Then he can go try to get his 17 from someone else and Conner takes over.

It doesn't surprise me a bit he hasn't reported. And who knows when he will.

I also am on the record saying I would like them to sign and trade him. Don't believe that will happen.

All will be forgotten when he is tearing it up...enjoy his last season in Black & Gold.

You can add immature to that to. Sometimes we forget how young these guys are. Lev Bell is 26 but strikes me as a guy with the mentality of someone even younger. When Lev rapped about his contract that reminded me so much of something my son would do.

Of course it seems obscene but people pay a lot of money to see it. These teams are worth in the 100s of millions some even billions. If their product producing that much how are they not worth it? Isnt like you can replace them with anyone to perform at the same levels that they do.

Who cares! The Steelers will win the Super Bowl without him. Sign him and trade him for a 1st rounder. Bell fails anywhere else.

Why on earth would you think that? He might be a douche but he is a supremely talented one.

He cant gain a thing by missing games now:

    By TYLER CONWAYSEPTEMBER 3, 2018

The Steelers will likely turn to backup James Conner unless Bell shows up to practice in the days prior to Sunday's season opener against the Cleveland Browns. Bell rushed for 32 yards on 10 carries in Week 1 last year.

There is no financial incentive to continue his holdout. Bell and the Steelers cannot negotiate a new contract because the deadline for franchised players has passed. There's also no scenario in which the Steelers are going to drop the tag, so he's essentially forfeiting game checks if he continues to sit out.

Bell is scheduled to make $14.5 million in 2018. Every game he misses will cost him a game check worth about $900,000.

In July, Bell tweeted out a statement promising to make 2018 his "best season to date." The Steelers and their Pro Bowl running back are expected to part ways after the season.

Look at our O-Line. That contributes to about 50-60% of his success

Bell will put up big numbers anywhere he goes. Our line wasn't any good when he got here and he still shined.

He's one of the best RB's in the league if not the best. Unfortunately he has a big head to go with that big talent.

No he won't...His wait, wait, wait...Hesitate..Hit the hole style is not gonna mesh with 95% of the teams in the league...Steelers have a great line and a boatland of talent where you can't zero in on Bell...

He is gonna go downhill fast...imo

I could see him go downhill fast simply because that seems to happen to all RBs but he is not simply a product of the offensive line.

So why did he do well when he first got here and Munch hadn't fixed the line yet?

Please, this is bitter fan talk trying to discredit a player they are pissed at.

Because...He has regressed. The knee surgeries, groin surgery, and most importantly..." Run his wheels off "in college and the pros, has caught up to him.

Anybody could tell he has no straight line speed left, as evidenced by his ONE run over 20 yards!

    He's still shifty...He's still good...But imo he is/ already started to...go downhill

Every back has only so many carries...And Bell has a ton

    I humbly disagree.

He will be a really good RB, but if he goes to the wrong team I don't think he will be a Top 3 type of back, up there with Gurley, Zeke and DJ.

He wasn't even that good as as a rookie. 3.5 Y/A?

He was overweight as a rookie and it didn't work for him. He slimmed down and became elite. We will see what kind of shape he is in when gets here but at times in the past he seems like he had been sneaking up in weight.

Also dont forget, barring an injury here and there, but Bell has been running behind Foster, Pouncey, DeCastro and Gilbert since he was drafted.

I am someone who thinks our Oline has alot to do with Bell's success. Not all of it, but I think they make him elite. Not sure he will be that when he leaves.

Add in his off the field troubles and I commend the Steelers for not giving into those contract demands.

That was his rookie season and he still ran for 860 yards and 8 TD's. In 2014 he ran for 1361 yards, 8TDs and a 4.7 yard per carry. 2014 was Munchs first year, the line didn't start become better until 2015.

No doubt our line helps him now but I still believe most of his success is due to himself. One thing is for sure, we will find out next year how good or not he will be.

I agree with the last part, certainly not advocating the Steelers should pay him what he wants. Glad they stood firm.

True, he does have a lot of mileage and if he reports, they will run the wheels off again.

We'll see how it plays out. No way he signs here next season.

Can someone explain how NFL contracts work?
From what I understand is that Bell got offered 5yr 70mil with 10mil guaranteed. I read something saying he would get 33mil first two years, does this mean he would have been actually getting 23mil for the first 2yrs plus the 10mil bonus? I don't think I've ever heard of the Steelers giving out big guarantees in their contracts instead opting to give bonuses.

From what I understand, yes he would have gotten bonus money up front and make the most in the 1st 2 yrs on the contract. So, no, it wasnt a lot of guaranteed money but it was more in those 2 yrs which came out to roughly the 17 mil he was wanting. It was actually a better contract than Gurley's, again from the way I understood it.

He is a very good back... he is one of the best in the league here... with Ben throwing, AB drawing attention and that line being one of the best in the league.

In Cleveland you have Tyrod Taylor, Josh Gordon, and a continually rebuilding line.

Bottom line Bell is good, but he is not Barry Sanders good... and Barry couldn't help the Lions to the big game.
