It doesn't surprise me he isn't at practice today. He actually stated that report saying he was showing today was false news.

He'll probably show up for the game though not sure what kind of condition he's in. If he's slow, give the snaps to Conner. No need to do him any favors.

I am definitely tired of him. He can go as far as I am concerned.

You wonder if Colbert isn’t testing trade waters. 49ers, Jets be prime targets for an RB

And they would give what to improve the team tomorrow? Trading him gets them nothing that helps this season and draft picks aren't worth losing him to another team.

You did a good job spit balling.. LB'S have 2 main responsibilities .#1 Stuff the run and then #2 to drop into their coverage ... If a LB is playing 7 yards from the LOS they are in many passing windows if the RB is known to hit the hole and explode the LB may go to 4 or 5 yards .If a Team uses a FB and runs quick hitters the LB may even be at 2 or 3 yards ...

To add on to this after the pre snap depth comes the first move at the snap... Bell doesn't require the LB'S 1st. step be towards the LOS this keeps them in those passing lanes longer and makes it much easier to get in their drops when it is a pass ..

Very similar rules for DB'S who have force as well ...

The bottom line is Down Hill runners create more passing windows and make it harder for Teams to play the pass...

I'm sure defenders try playing back on Bell right up to the point that he gashes them a few times.

I am. I don't know why I do it to myself sometimes. I guess I'm a glutton for punishment. It wasn't pretty last time and I swore I wouldn't put myself through that pain again. Just thinking about it makes me almost want to run to the bathroom.........oh wait....oh you meant Leveon.....Oh..I thought you were talking about Taco Bell.....

This. We will probably run him a series or two and see what it is. If he looks out of shape they split carries. I’m on board with running bell till the wheels fall off this season, but only if he’s 100% ready to go. Bell at 75-80% isn’t going to do us any favors

Yep. They are the ones putting their bodies and minds on the line. Just look at a reunion of an old NFL football team. It's like an episode of The Walking Dead. They destroy themselves and they want to get as much as they can for doing it. I totally understand why Bell is doing what he can to protect his interests.

As a fan I find him irritating off the field but amazing on it. Ultimately the amazing on the field means more to me than the being a douche off the field, but yeah, I wish he'd just show up already. Given how he likes to share on social media I'd expected his plans to be a bit more clear by now.

If Bell looks sluggish or out of shape I have no problem with giving Conner more carries. I wouldn't be opposed to Conner being the official starter for Cleveland since he's been there through the whole process but if Bell is basically at 100% then we need to ride him hard. Get our money's worth. Plus I am most comfortable with him picking up the blitz. Not as confident in Conner, Samuels, and Ridley doing that until I see it in real games.

I think that was the case up until a few hours ago. And I agreed. But now, he’s just being selfish. I’m not sure players will like that.

I know you believe this because you believe it is all business and that by getting the most he can that the players around the league support him. In reality the players support themselves and they think that payouts like what happened this past week will help them eventually, it might but the sad truth is thsee mega deal the contract demands by these superstar athletes under the guise of balancing the power between the owners and player's doesn't help the rank and file.

Talented superstars like Bell, Mack, Donald, OBJ, Brown get rich. If Rosie Nix holds out he gets fired, if the team feels Foster is getting older and not worth a 4 mil a year salary he gets cut. The mega deals don't prevent that. It helps the top few. If they really want to balance the power between players and owners or take control over salary negotiations the best way is through the union and working as a unified group for the betterment of all not a grandstanding money grab by a single player who then claims the support of teammates, who agree because they think it helps

I doubt they will try to trade him. If that was the case, they could have just used the non-exclusive tag. By using the exclusive tag, they were making certain he didn’t go anywhere.

Colbert really screwed this up. I've been saying since January we should have let Ahole go and used the money for Dion Lewis and Avery Williamson (or... insert the RB and ILB you like).

I’m still trying to understand why we didn’t do the other Tag where Bell could get an offer and we could match or get the draft picks. Based on what happened last year you’d think this would have been best for both sides?

We just can't rescind the tag and move on.

Look at the haul the Raiders got for Mack.

Now I prefer to hold onto Bell and use him on our way to #7. That's worth more than some picks.

I still contend the combo of Conner and Samuels can absorb the loss of Bell. Plus with Juju in year 2 and the soon to be emergence of Washington I love our offense this year with or without Bell.

I have heard that is the potential plan for next season so that they at least force Bell and his agent to listen to one last Steelers pitch on any given deal and so they get draft pick compensation

Yes, you can tag 3 times. But, it will cost about $20 mil if he plays for the tag. That’s pretty steep.

Everybody saying rescind... He will go to the Patriots for peanuts. Steelers need to finally learn their lesson from Blount/Traitorson. Trade him to a horrible NFC team with no ties to the Cheatriots. Trade him to the Bucs.

The problem with that is most players who side with him are alll about the money and not on-field success. I'm going to overreact by saying that not only would I get rid of Bell, but I'd get rid of anyone who really supports him because you know they don't care about the team. I'm sick of this crap that football is a business. You can't say that to fans who pay for over-priced tickets and over-priced merchandise. I've said it before, these guys are complaining about dollars in amounts that every-day workers will never see in their lifetimes. Pittsburgh is supposed to be a blue-collar town, well this is white-collar B.S. He's hurting the team.

This would be true if we were talking about a normal salary, but we're not. Bell made more last year on the tag than most people will ever see and he'll make more than that this year. If he can't live for the rest of his life on what he's already made plus this year then he's not just wasting money, he's destroying it. These guys have multi-million dollar homes, cars, clothes, and a lifestyle most will never get to experience. Not only that, but their families are set for life already. These guys have been scamming the public on this business, financial security, and "kids gotta eat" nonsense for too long. It makes no sense to anyone who has worked a real job. Soldiers, police, fireman, those guys risk their lives more often than a football player, when do they get 16 million for year's work?
