After watching Ben's reaction to the Steelers drafting Rudolph. Ben came to training camp trim and fit (well for him). He seemed to put more effort into camp. After last night watching the two youngsters play (I know weak competition) I am for trading Jones and keeping the two young wolves. Let them continue to pressure Ben for the starting job. Jones, a career backup, is no threat to Ben. Dobbs and Rudolph are a threat to Ben. Not immediately, but if the Steelers want Ben playing optimally for the next 2-3 years then keep the two young wolves to press the Alpha Dog, Ben. They will force Ben to not be complacent. Plus as someone likes to say "iron sharpens iron," in 2-3 years at least one of them will ready to replace Ben through their competition with each other.

I can see the Bills, Broncos or Lions having interest in Landry Jones. I watched Lions last night vs. Browns... Jones is better than Rudock and Cassel. Buffalo is without McCarron for a while.... and Broncos need a QB behind Keenum.

I can't see Ben playing another 2-3 years. I'm shocked he is still playing now. He is a big boy but his body has been smashed all over the turf over the years. If pretty boy Brady took half the hits Ben has taken he'd be out of football.

If the Steelers keep Jones it will be bacause Ben didn’t want the competition and talked them into it. Jones is not a threat to Ben’s job.

The only pressure on big Ben is coming from opposing defenses. I don't have the other three quarterbacks on our roster is any kind of threat to happen at this point in his career.

McCarron played last night and led Buffalo to a comeback win.

Ben's only pressure is old man time. NOBODY on our roster can fill his shoes.

AJ is a career backup at best, he is a sack machine with no pocket mobility....

I wasn't implying that I think McCarron is a good quarterback. The poster thought that McCarron was still injured. I was informing him of the facts that McCarron is playing and that he led his team to a win last night.

15 year starting QB shouldn't need pressure from the backups for motivation.

He did get fit and trim all the sudden, after coming into camp looking like a potato for the last 10 seasons or so.

I don't know. He did throw a hissy fit when they drafted Mason and then showed up at camp looking to be in great shape. And by all reports, has had one of his best camps ever.

Yeah he may have been upset, but not because he was feeling any pressure from Mason. He was upset because he felt that pick could've helped the team this year.

Really? I’d be shocked if he didn’t play those years. I mean Brett Farve played into his 40’s and he got creamed just as much as Ben.

The only thing keeping Ben from plying another 3 years or more is his desire to continue playing. If he wants to, he will be able to.

Actually I think a 15 year QB needs motivation more than a youngster who is trying prove himself.

Ben looks motivated to me. Mason was drafted to replace him, its human nature to worry about your job.

Exactly. Why else do you guys think Blast came into this 'message board' season in the best shape of his career here. There was some 'new blood' around here trying to make a name for themselves and BF had to make sure he was ready. He's having one of his best 'message board' camps ever. I expect a great season...:hehehe:

There is no pressure based on the fact of having his job taken. The pressure is based on performing at a high level ,so he can get another big contract. It's also a I'll show you moment to the FO that he's nowhere near done and it was a mistake to draft a QB .
