So your take is better than his? lol Glad your competitive edge is not actually instilled in any of our players. I don't think they take any game action lightly. Especially a QB. They go with the play call, unless they are an established vet.

Rudolph through his first 3 pre season games is way ahead where Dobbs was through his first 3 games last year.

    And it's not even close.

Now I do like how Dobbs has handled this pre season. He knew when Rudolph was drafted he was on borrowed team.

He is taking chances and making some plays.

Unfortunately, it won't be enough. Hopefully he goes to the PS.

Mason doesn't look that big to me. Plus he has small hands.

He's literally doing nothing dude, i'm not talking only the deep ball. But not even much beyond short throws. He looks lost in the sauce. No intermediate routes, nothing. Dude is doing no favors for other WRs trying to make the team either. Compared to other QBs that were "graded" the same as him put into similar situations with 3rd team guys are doing a lot better. Dobbs is doing a lot better and was thought of as a project guy. The feel and hype over Mason was that he was a franchise QB. I'm well aware it's preseason, but dude has to show us something. It's football make a play, don't just get rid of it because you're not getting 1st team reps , what kind of guy do you want at QB?. Landry is on his last year possibly and the Steelers are going to most likely not have dobbs.

A little early to decide if Mason is a bust.

He has done nothing but improve since the first week of the preseason. I do not think it is his fault that the likes of the second team offensive line, namely R.J. Prince, cannot maintain their blocks long enough and/or if the receivers are not getting open quick enough.

Add in either of those factors and it is quite difficult to put together any type of success.

You're saying that plays only have one option and the QB always has to go with the first option?

My take is better than his? Yes. We don't know yet. He thinks he knows already because he thinks that long passes in preseason games determines NFL QB success.

How does he look lost? Washington is the only WR he knows and Washington left the Titans game with an injury.

Dobbs is doing better? Throwing more interceptions is not better. Interceptions kill your team.

I'll take the nit pick high percentage Tom Brady type throws all day long until he gets his timing down with the WR's and even then if a guy is double covered you don't throw it.

Hype is hype. It means nothing. Statistically speaking most draft picks don't become NFL stars but we don't know a thing yet. Three preseason games is not enough for you or anyone to know whether a player is going to be good or not.

He has to show you something? What NFL rule says that? You don't get a vote.

What kind of guy do I want at QB? Someone who takes what the defense gives them instead of trying to force it.

The Steelers are most likely not going to have Dobbs? So? Dobbs had his chance. He threw interceptions. Now Rudolph is going to get his chance. Maybe he improves, maybe he doesn't. This is the way it works. See what happens is teams draft guys and give them some time to improve and if they don't work out THEN they cut the guys loose. You didn't know that?

I think some of you guys just can't handle the NFL. You want what you want and think you should get what you want even with a $1 billion NFL franchise that doesn't even know your name.

Why shouldn’t we write a player off after three preseason games? I think the answer is pretty obvious.

And no, Dobbs hasn’t gotten a super fair shake. We kinda knew that was going to happen as soon as we took Rudolph in the draft. The FO and coaches certainly don’t think Dobbs is better than Landry, and they think Rudolph is going to be a better player in the long run. It is what it is. I hope Dobbs either hits the PS safely or manages to catch on with another team. He has enough talent to be a back up QB in the league I think.

I'm not a dobbs fan boy lol. Jones is by far the best back up QB we have. was just saying dobbs was a little better and that shouldn't the case

What evidence have you found that supports that conclusion? None. So, once again, you jump to conclusions without any evidence.

Rudolph has some fundamental issues that he has to overcome but I watched a lot of tape on him.

In college on deep passes Rudolph liked to throw huge lobs that went in front of the WR, where only the WR could catch it. Rudolph was very accurate with them and they worked a lot of the time so he kept throwing them. He's not going to be able to do that in the NFL. The safeties are too good, they will eat up those huge looping deep passes. Now, from what I've seen in preseason games he's only thrown those lob passes a few times so he seems to be getting better.

Also, in college he didn't always put enough zip on the ball. He can zip it but he mostly did that in the red zone. His wind up is longer if he's going to zip it so he has to be more consistant. Every pass in the NFL has to have some zip on it. From what I've seen in preseason his regular short passes do tend to have a little more zip on them than his regular throws in college but not always.

I think his success comes down to improving on the things I stated above and, because of his inconsistant throwing speed, he absolutely has to have his timing down with his WR's. He has to know exactly where they are going to be and what speed they are going to be running.

I am pretty sure Ben's first pass in the regular season or pre season was a pick, some of you google pros can verify this. So I guess Ben wasnt very good at first either.

He's way ahead of LJ too. You can argue Dobbs is ahead of where LJ was at the same point in his career too.

Everyone speculates on here, that's what a forum is for, but we don't have to be azzes about it

I have not been impressed but cmon it’s a few preseason games.

I do stand by my call that it’s more likely he’s another Landry Jones than he is a Ben. Although that’s probably an easy statement to make.

Don't know, watched the game again on youtube and mason led them to 2 scores called back on penalties.
So, he was definitely leading us down the field. Upon further review, for me, not bad at all.
I do think Dobbs is feeling it and has raised his game, which is good.
    IMO
