Is Mason too full of himself already?

Yea, I know, I know, it's early....but doesn't he seem to give off this "Big Man on Campus" 'tude when he speaks to reporters?

He seems to force out saying some of the right things, but do you not get the vibe that he might be a little cocky for where he is right now? He hasn't done anything yet carries himself a little like he's King Sh-t.

And, no, this is hardly an indictment on the young man, but maybe he will change his tune a little when he meets some adversity, which is 100% bound to happen.

I am rooting for him, and am hoping for the best. But he is hardly an ironclad QB of the future. He's got a long way to go.

On a team with lots of guys full of themselves, I don't put Mason too high on the list. Buts there's still time.

Oh, I agree, 100% - he is no where near top of the list. It's just that he seems a tad cocky for where he is. I don't mind confident - you need that. I just hope he gets/remains grounded.

You need that kind of attitude to play QB in the NFL.

Wallow, shrivel and be very fearful when you enter the league; Quarterback or not!

In fact, Jalen Ramsey might be the worst cornerback simply based on this newfound inner belief known as "confidence."

Confidence?!?! Pft. What an overrated trait!

Wasn't the same thing said about Ben?

A QB has to have that quality to succeed.

Maybe you don't need it but it certainly seems common among QBs and I could see how having an inflated opinion on your own worth could help. These guys are relentlessly criticized. They need something to counteract that.

    Yes

But starting back to high school, doesn’t it seem like typically the cocky kid is the quarterback. To some degree, you want a lot of confidence. Just not a jerk.

Ben was cocky as a rookie. He turned out fairly good?

    Time will tell.

I think there’s a difference between being cocky and being a cocky a-hole.

Honestly, I’d be more worried if he wasn’t a little full of himself. Having played sports for a living for a short time, I can tell you there are far more successful cocky athletes than “aww-shucks” types. It’s part of the type A personality that you see in guys that rise to the top.

He was coached to do this. It makes up for the lack of cockiness of LJ and Dobbs. It keeps the QB room balanced.:smiley1::cool:

I heard last night he tried to be humble before the game saying the other team was pretty good, thought the other team might pick-6 him. I like that kind humility myself!

Well, if he is paying attention to his play, there is nothing to be cocky about.

let's see how he responds and puts in the work. He seems like a guy that will work on his mistakes and take back control.

Rudolph is the least of our worries. In time, I think he'll be a good QB... maybe not as good as Roethlisberger, but he can be a successful Steelers QB if he quits staring down WRs. He made some good throws last night. Problem is... the bad throws are magnified.

There is a difference between being confident and cocky. He’s probably somewhere in between. That’s a good attitude to have as a professional QB.Last night might have brought the cockiness part down a tad which is a good thing. Not worried as he is a work in progress as a third round QB in his second game.No sense of urgency at QB!There is a sense of urgency on the defensive side of the ball and not because of the poor performance last night which is only preseason and very vanilla.

Yea, it served him just great on his first play. How can anyone be that stupid? You practice all week long, drop back and throw it right to the other team, apparently blind while doing so. Pathetic.
