Once again it looks like the Steelers have found another legit WR, after getting JuJu last year this team knows how to pick them. Tomlin likes to talk about his receivers making combative catches, that's what Washington does best. That's something Martavis Bryant wasn't good at in making combative catches, what they lost in speed and big play ability they probably gained more consistency from their 3rd WR.

I think JW will prove to be an upgrade over MB. If he can keep himself from getting suspended and saying dumb chit on Twitter that's a start.

    Legit.

I think he starts on the outside with JuJu in the slot.

Did Patterson catch 1 ball last night?

Yeah... Washington is the real deal. Not surprised.

Steelers may have hit on the first 3 picks once it's all said and done.

Washington looks more NFL-ready than JuJu looked last year at this time.

His ability to snatch the ball away from the defender is unreal.

Not really surprised as quick adjustments in finding the ball and luring the db to think the ball is further thrown than it really is was his strength in college. So far so good in first two outings.

He won’t be asked to replicate that and he certainly won’t have to.

I don’t think anyone could foresee what happened with MBryant last year. JuJu walked into what we all thought would be a 3-4 WR and ended up being the number 2 only a couple of games in.

Us as fans and Washington knows, barring injury, JuJu isn’t going anywhere.

I like it, but he's not the "we need to keep an extra defender over the top" type guy.

It's been a while since we've had that battle for the ball type guy (Brown excluded) You're going to see that safety roll to Brown a lot more this year because there's no one with blow your doors off speed except DHB.

I hope DB's feel the same way you do. He's got field speed, he gets deep quite often. Here's a good article on him.

With Brown, Juju and Washington, we have BY FAR the best receiver core in the NFL. I think we have the tools to lead the NFL in passing. This is THE strength of the team. We have to aim to be the #1 offense if we want to win a Super Bowl because the defense is not going to help much. If the defense can improve to be average, yep #1 offense + average defense can win a Super Bowl.

Reminds me of the quote (probably Mark Twain): "After all's said and done, there's a lot more said than done." (e.g. Steeler D?)

JW is outstanding on those jump balls (did you hear the GB announcers talking about his bizarre arm length?) but he doesn't seem to have that deceptive acceleration gear that JuJu has. After JuJu makes an open field catch, even under-thrown passes, he turns on the afterburners and is gone. Still lamenting though that JuJu didn't run out of bounds late against NE last year on that long catch and run - would have saved a TO and a better chance they could have finally beat NE and Marsha, even with the controversial JJ no TD catch call. I know I know - :offtopic:

Tomlin''s presser after the game he was asked about Washington and he downplayed it talking about they knew what he could do because it's all he did in Stillwater, all he did in OTA's, at minicamp, and now. But secretly you know he is just grinning ear to ear inside thinking about how good this kid is.

Add me to the James Washington fan list. Not only does he make plays, he seems like a humble guy. Refreshing to see especially at the WR position.

He did let one go through his hands, although I think it might have been a tough catch. I know I’m nit picking.
