Training Camp Updates 2018

I'll say this after reading some of the camp notes... Coty Sensabaugh is not going quietly into that good night. Dude has been sticky in coverage by most reports I have read. TBH I wrote him off but he seems to be having a good camp.

Defense overall won camp today

 

Offense won yesterday so nice to see both sides having some success.

 

As long as they don't take turns when it counts....we've seen a lot of that recently

 

It was the best draft in NFL history. I don't see how you could match taking four Hall of Famers. And a big part of pulling it off was not reaching for Stallworth.

 

He was not getting late first-round buzz before the draft. Please just stop with that. He was projected late second or early third round.

 

I'm talking about the actual selections. A first-round pick is worth more than a third. You do realize you are taking the clueless side of the argument, right?

 

I posted this tweet on the board before, but the first 2 responses are priceless. Both guys are Steelers 'insiders'.

in what terms is a first rounder worth more than a third rounder? Are you treating the draft as a separate entity from its objective?

 

When you pick in the bottom of the first, second round players are in play.

In the same terms I presented all over this thread. If you take a third-round player in the first round, you essentially traded a first-round pick for a third-round pick. You gave up value, which is idiotic. To borrow a phrase from an acquaintance of mine, this is inarguable among the sane.

If you want to argue that Edmunds really wasn't a third-round value, that's fine. But to say it isn't a mistake to take a player earlier than necessary is just stupid.

 

He’s going to get the Cockrell treatment. We will keep him around long enough to squeeze a late draft pick out of him. We have too many young guys that are ready or will be soon.

 

At the end of the day what it really comes down to with the Steelers is their board. They don’t care about the rest. They saw him as a key piece and went and got him. I don’t care what the analysts say on “value” or “grades”. I mean you have to pay attention to it to a point but it’s not the end all be all or there would never be a first round miss or a late round superstar. Get the guys on your board that fit what you want to do.
