James Washington is everything that Martavis Bryant was not. Nevermind contesting catches but his ball tracking abilities far exceeds anything Bryant ever showed.

Add his superior run blocking abilities, route running, perseverance, consistency, dedication and desire and you have the general makeup of a number one receiver.

Sure, his deep speed is not as explosive as Bryant's but Washington's unusual second gear he activates into his routes is so unique yet effective that such a concern is nugatory.

Interesting that you can tell that before he's played a single snap in the NFL. Hope you are right.

A large contingent of a players traits that made them successful can transfer over into the Professionals should they elect to have the desire, dedication and perseverance to not just build upon their current skills but to hone new ones to increase their chances of playing time in their rookie season.

Thus far, much of what we heard about Washington have been those aforementioned traits; persistence no less. Personally, I believe James is going to be an immediate assest to the team long before the final preseason game and nevermind Week One against Cleveland. He has no choice and he knows he has the capabilities to be the guy.

He has to earn it. Given his background growing up and working in the fields though, I doubt that will be much of an issue.

come on people can we just wait till reg season before we make ridiculous comments........ DHB looks great in practice also..... " we are talking about practice, not the game, we are talking about practice"

    Speaking of Bryant, just read:

if it was a defender I would hold my horses but Steelers do know how to draft WR's. We should have a compelling trio of WR's that for sure.

Yep. And with the exception of Emmanuel Sanders and Plaxico Burress, they usually don't perform as well on another team.

Easy with saying a player is "lighting it up." We don't need any more drug tests, than necessary around here.

We tend to prefer to say that a player is playing extremely well.

Just as interesting that he is forming these conclusions based on what others (scouts, writers) have asserted, while making fun of others for doing the same.

They've hit on a few over the last ten years, but we're not the receiver factory that some suggest.

A guy reporting on a players progress in practice is not even close to some talking heads predicting where players will be drafted.

Marcus Weaton, Dre Archer, Sammy Coates, Limas Sweed and Willie Reid. All can't miss WRs.

Dri Archer was a running back, not a receiver.

Profootball-reference lists him as a WR. But your point is well taken. He had more carries than receptions in the brief NFL career. Though not many, and not many more.

Wheaton was good until he got hurt and things seemed to snowball on him. I don't consider him a busy or wasted pick.

I saw the title of this post and for some reason it made me think of Bryant and Bell?
