His heart and mind are in the correct place without question.

Question is, what about his body? How much longer can it hold up?

In fact, I can see him getting banged up badly this year, but winning the Super Bowl and walking off like Bettis did.

If he goes out that way, so be it.

He deserves the team and the team deserves him.

I think 3 max too, but I suspect two yrs from now Ben's decline will be obvious, and there will be those arguing to bench him for Rudolph-the-red-nosed-QB

Another draft like this one, and he will call it quits after a year.

Maybe, this is a good thing. It will motivate Ben to have the best season of his career. New playcaller, healthy oline, weapons galore, and a pretty favorable schedule. No more excuses!

Sounds threatened to me. "Wait. They drafted a quarterback?? He's not replacing me. I'm playing till I'm 60!!". He upped his career time window from year to year to 3 to 5 years this week.

    Ugh.

Last off season he was contemplating retirement, this offseason he wants 3-5 more years.

Media was just dying for this quote and this story.

Hopefully this doesnt turn ugly like when Favre left GB.

I'm all for Ben playing as long as he can, stay healthy and perform like he always does.

I just hope he doesn't feel threatened and take it our on Rudolph. Don't Ben and Landry have a connection somehow? Someone's sister or girlfriend or something? I wonder what Ben's thoughts will be if Landry is moved out in favour of Rudolph.

The first game that the Steelers are down 2 scores and Ben throws a dumb pick, this fan base will be whining for Rudolph. Ben knows that.

After the Jacksonville game last year, there were people calling for Josh Dobbs. Imagine what it will be like now that Rudolph is here.

Would be a great way to end a career. Isn't Elway his hero, hence the #7?

Well it's clear he was definitely orchestrating Haleys removal, problem is he must have been too convincing to the front office.

Do they make that pick knowing Ben wants to play to 40? 41?

Now they are going to find themselves in a position of forcing Ben out if he's still playing at a high level in a few years. One of the reasons I didn't like taking a QB yet.

Of course, Mason is no sure thing so there is that possibility too. Might not be an issue.

As great as he is, he’s always been for drama. Last year he didn’t know if he had it anymore, then he’s year to year and now it’s 3-5 years. Why not just keep his comments in house. Geez he gets annoying sometimes.

Ben will play 2 maybe 3 years win one more Lombardi and rudolph will sit back and learn like Rodgers did . Great future for the Steelers . My prediction. I see a lot of positive

That would be intriguing without question; doubly so if Rudolph demonstrates such abilities in the preseason no less.

Speaking of which, cannot wait. All these sub plots will lead to one of the most anticipated preseasons in years. Quite a bit to find out when that time comes.

Ben is great competitor like most professional athletes so of course he’s going to say he’ll play until he’s 40 or 41 when they supposedly draft his replacement.Reality says 2-3 years at best as it’s not like he hasn’t taken some physical punishment over his career. You’re right as Mason is no sure thing but I think it was a great value pick in the third round and makes sense as he’ll hopefully have a few years to learn from one of the best!

I give it 2 years max before Ben retires. He may play the 2019 season, but that's it.

Ben said it depends how the line goes, and in a perfect world he would like to play that long. That's a pretty generic statement they turned into he's feeling threatened. First off the line is going to see some changes fairly soon, I would imagine. These guys are starting to age now.

Time for Ben to start getting that 30 point average per game going... I don't think he can.. To many untimely INT's... Too many 3rd and 2 Bombs for 40 yards.

3 years max. He is under contract for 2 more years, they will extend him one more next season. If we win the Super bowl this season he will come back to tie Bradshaw. We all know Ben is a drama queen, i'm going to take it one year at a time to I want to play 3-5 more years.

My hope is that Rudolph lights is up in camp and becomes the solid #2. Would be great to have a year between having to sign him to a long team deal. Again, that's if all the cards fall into place.
