Hopefully he's a good understudy... Time will tell. The other 2 aren't gonna cut it.

Dobbs is done. No way Steelers ditch Jones. Those of you celebrating the end of Landry...LOL.

Rudolph is the real deal. I can't believe the Steelers got him in the 3rd. Short term...this does nothing for us. Long term...it's epic. I bet the Bengals, Ravens and Patriots are kicking themselves...HAHAHA

I feel that Rudolph will get a bulk of the snaps. What a steal!

We now have a true #2 who will take the reins when Ben hangs em up. I can't see them letting Landry go, Dobb's falls on the sword, has shown nothing to be retained. At least Jones has some starting under his belt.

    Good point.

As for who they let go, Dobbs hasnt gotten a chance to prove anything, how do we know?

No, I think they now have 2 QB's with different styles they will let compete and make a decision on. A move QB vs pocket QB.

I'm one of Landrys defenders but I have a hard time believing Dobbs can't give us what he does and he is cheaper and under contract longer.

I’m just not sure Dobbs will ever get the chance to exploit his mobility to the point he makes a case for a roster spot moving forward. But let’s see. Cap space will also be a factor if Rudolph is a clear no 2.

I’m fairly sure the Steelers didn’t go into the draft thinking they’d be in a position to grab Rudolph, though.

QB is the most important position, and you have to keep drafting them until you get a great one. Does Landry have much trade value?

This is one game. Perhaps middle of field to right sideline was the weakest area of Pitts pass defense. He did throw 5 TDs before half-time.

Sorry! Landry stays. He is a very capable backup QB and Dobbs is not. Duh!

Meh.. MR is just another B12 QB who through against air. No B12 QBs pan out. They rack up Madden yards throwing to great skill position talent that’s wide open by 5 to 10 yards consistently. That league plays no defense.

There’s a pattern regarding lack of NFL success among B12 QBs the past 20 years. And these are guys taken many times in the first round. Why is MR different?

Steelers would be stupid to get rid of Landry Jones. He has experience. He can be a good career backup for the Steelers for many years. He's not a QB who will win a Super Bowl, but he can win a few games until Roethlisberger mends if injured or until Rudolph is ready.

I get your point Blast but as far as experience Landry has it, Dobbs doesn't. We just drafted the QB hopefully of the future. But like you said let them fight it out in camp although I feel Dobbs will be gone. Landry is an UFA after this year. If Rudolph excels to #2 in camp then I could see them retaining Dobbs who is signed through 2020 and let Landry go.

With regard to being an exceptional deep ball passer, probably the best deep ball passer in the draft, he may be more like Bradshaw than Ben. Doesn't have Bradshaw's arm strength (who does?) but he's very accurate on 40+ yard passes. Bradshaw was the best deep ball quarterback in history. Ben's okay, but he's not a great deep ball thrower. He has streaks but I've also seen him miss badly on deep balls, overthrowing the ball primarily.

Let Rudolph sit and learn this season. He will get lots of reps in pre-season. He will be the 3rd string guy.

But, you never know. Remember Ben was suppose to really be 3rd string his rookie year and sit and learn.

But, Charlie Batch broke his arm, in the preseason, Ben went to #2. Then Maddox got hurt in the 2nd week. Then Ben was starting.
The rest they say is history.

What?! Hey, the Cleveland Browns took a Big 12 Conference QB with the number one overall pick and they NEVER miss on QBs!
