Just curious, but how many Steelers fans here ( I assume everyone posting here are Steelers fans) are also Pens & Pirates fans?

yep, suffered through 20 years of futility before the Bucs made it back to the post season only to have the ownership sell off the team again. Pens since the Golden Days in 91

From New Jersey and like a mishmash of teams.Cable in it’s infancy in 1972 at 9 years old with 12 channels to watch didn’t give me much exposure to anything but N.Y. teams. Luckily we had a Philly NBC station that had the Steelers on every week because NBC only showed AFC games.Tired of watching the Jets and Giants all the time the year before with the antenna on the roof and getting cable in 72 and seeing the black and gold was a breath of fresh air!The immaculate reception was the clincher as the rest is history as I chose all my sports teams that year and never looked back. The Islanders,Reds, and a Julius Erving fan which brought me to the 76ers round out the three other major sports teams.

    I BLEED BLACK AND GOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It used to drive my wife crazy with all the Pittsburgh sports that I watch but then she just gave up and deals with it. She says I created a sports monster with my son. All our friends agree.

I'm a die hard Pens fan, but I do not follow baseball at all. I support the Pirates, but I couldn't name you 2 players on their roster. So I wouldn't say I'm a Pirate fan.

Not to be ignorant. I honestly don't know. But, how many people in Pittsburgh would recognize Crosby or Malkin if they went to a local bar? Again, I'm legitimately asking. I don't know.

I would have to think Crosby and Malkin would be easily recognized in any bar here. Penguins have a pretty big following.

    Steelers, Penguins and Pirates.

I once held a full or partial ticket plan for all 3. Now it’s just Steeler season tickets and individual games for Penguins and Pirates.

Heck, I only know two Pirates names, Mccutcheon and Cole. Oh, never mind.

Used to watch the Pens when I could, though haven’t had time to follow them of late.

Baseball’s just not my thing. If they introduced tackling into it, then maybe lol.

    Here's my very specific mindset:

1.) Steelers and NFL, interested in all aspects, from pre-season, camps, draft, free agency, any news. Into it year round.

2.) Pens, barely even follow during season, other than looking at standings a few times, rarely watch any regular season games. If they make playoffs, will watch every single game but will also surf during game. Also watch some other playoff games if it's a significant series. I don't label myself a "big Pens fan" because prior to watching the playoffs I can only name about half a dozen players - that is not a "big fan." Compared to the Steelers, I not only know the name of every starter, but also every backup and probably know 90% of what college they came from and how we acquired them (what round of draft, or FA team they come from).

    3. Buccos - see above.

West coast fan born into the dynasty in 76... Family tradition of steel workers passed on down. I don't care much for stick ball or hockey but I follow the Pens and Bucs... Nice 4 stint opener thus far.

Yeah I cheer for all three and PITT. I honestly grew up probably more of a Pirates fan than any of them.

Born and raised in Pgh. Was first a Pirate fan, then Steelers, then Panthers, then Rens, the Hornets, then Phantom, then Pens - now proudly and relentlessly follow all Pgh teams with gold in their uni colors.

Yeah against the American League. They almost blew a 5 run first inning today against the Twins. Had me holding my breath wondering why they pulled the starting pitcher so early when he was dominating.

I have no regular TV favorite programs, they're all lib trash. If Pens are on the tube, I am watching them. If Steelers are playing, I am at the local Steelers bar getting and giving support as needed during the game. Baseball I'll watch in desperate situations.

Hello. I'm Coastal and I am a footballaholic. I have stooped as low as watching Arena and Canadian football and am ashamed.
