Another McDonald. Yes a good player but........ If he's out 3 out of 4 games is he worth it? Absolutely not.

 

He just played a full one last yr

 

He wants $9M/year and Steelers don't make these type of moves. They had a choice of either tagging Bell or making a Free Agent splash, and they chose Bell. Time to move on...

 

He started all 16 games last year for the first time in his career, and had 78 tackles 1 FF 1 sack, 2 picks, not his best season, and he admited it wasnt......

 

Too pricey. The Steelers will pick somebody out of the garbage instead.

 

And that season for most is great.

 

Maybe it's time we do. The nfl landscape has changed

 

Too many positions to fill to tie up all our eggs in one basket. Hubbard for example. We need a replacement. We don't have a lot of linemen. LB, we are down moats, harrison, shazier, Spence for now. WR, we are down Eli Rodgers and Bryant is down to one year. DHB is not starter friendly to us really. May be a further cut. RB, we are down Ridley, toussaint, Conner. We have a lot of money tied up in Bell and nix at that spot. We need a couple more to field a team. We need a Dlineman. A 5 man group will have to at least add 1 more. Yes we need safety help but we can't spend all of our money on a part time player. Yes he had a full season but that's been the first dating back to even his college days. ​

 

That would be a career best for mitchell, but for the highest paid safety in the league it didnt live up to his salary, he says it's not all about the money for his next team he just wants to be on a winning team, well we can use him if it's not all about the money:

They gave Mitchell a big deal, almost as big at what he wants.......

 

Yeah Bell and his 30% of our offense.......nobody is bitching that AB is making to much money or how about Ben, Tuitt, Heyward, Haden.........SMH

Can anyone in or around Pittsburgh confirm that he is in town meeting with the team today? I saw a tweet from him on Google where he is asking Cam what's cooking or what's good something to that effect so it sounds like he is in town and want a food recommendation

 

He wasn' injured in college. He had problems with staying off the weed.

 

I looked out the cap and it's a way to sign him well take some magic but it's possible. He's a much better player than haden and we justiied giving haden his money so if we got him id say get him and draft a ilb.. I like our chances next yr with the badger and a rookie mlb more than Boston or a veteran ilb with a rookie safety

It's definitely possible depending on how much money he wants. If he'll take $9m or less a year we can probably do it. If he wants more than that then I don't know if we can swing it.


Steelers Depot says we have $6.5m in cap room now after signing RB Toussaint. We could cut S JJ Wilcox to save $3.8m and WR Heyward-Bey to save another $1.3m. That would clear an extra $5.1m cap room.

So Mathieu was supposed to get $12m and Arizona wanted to drop his pay to $9m and he would not take it, so, our cap room and the cuts above would give us $11.6m a year.

That should do it.

 

And Mike Mitchell posted on Mathieu's tweet page to "hurry up and sign because everyone is waiting for you."

The team told Mitchell they would like to get him back at a lower amount so I think he knows it just depends on how much we end up paying Mathieu, or Mitchell might be hoping the deal doesn't go through so he can come back. I think Mitchell would be fine as a backup since he knows our system but only as long as he comes back cheap.

Colbert and Tomlin are at Oklahoma States pro day so there's no way they could be hosting Tyrann Mathieu in Pittsburgh today.

Think every city outside of Arizona is having Mattieu sightings.

 

I'm with you on all then except ab. He was a 6th round pick and never got a big pay day. He's the only one I'm ok with.
