While I am still on board for taking an ILB, S or CB at #28, I think most would agree if we had one need on the Offence it would be TE.

Now I've argued for years against taking a TE in Round 1 as it is more of a luxury than a need. However, there is no denying, despite our great playmaker, we lack a big red zone target.

Jesse James is a fine #2 TE but a below average #1 option. We do t we really know what we have in Vance. I think he could be a #1 option because when he is on, he looks good.

There was buzz around Mark Andrews of Oklahoma, but his 2 games against great defenses (Ohio St & Georgia) he completely disappeared.

Another option who seems to be climbing the ranks is Dallas Goddert from FCS. I was looking forward to seeing him at the Senior Bowl but I remember a couple of drops and then he got hurt and I kind of forgotten about him.

Watched some tape of him this morning and I have to say I'm impressed. I then found some senior bowl tape of him embarrssing LBs in routes.

He is the Adam Shaheen of this draft. A big athletic, high-pointing mismatch TE.

I liked Shaheen last year in Round 2 but the Bears took him way early and he had an alright rookie season on a bad Bears offence.

Goddert plays the TE position with some swagger. He will draw the enviable comparisons to a "Poor man's Gronk" or Zach Ertz.

The biggest problem with Goddert is that he doesn't appear to be a great athlete. Didn't get much separation against FCS which is a big issue.

What you have to like, even with no separation, if the ball was in the air, it was his. Great basketball skills. Great one handed catches. Plays tough. Shakes off DBs and keeps going.

    Keep an eye on him.

Stick with what they have at TE, too many holes on defense to be drafting a TE early. They might draft a RB early if Bell doesn't sign a longterm deal.

I think since McDonald had a great game against the jags 10 catches for 100 plus yards the steelers will want him back for next year, if they draft a TE in this draft it will be in like round 7......

I'm not even sure we get one in the 7th. We have quite a few years invested in the X- man and Jesse. I guess it depends on McDonald. Not sure about Jake McGee being back. I haven't seen anything on us signing him. I'd like to see Marcus baugh from oh. st. Brought in if we do decide to draft one late or if he would somehow make it to UDFA status. We:cool:

I would love to have Vance back but the contract has to change, if it does we don't need to draft a TE. If it don't we need to draft one, there are some nice ones up and down this draft board.

Andrews, Goedert, Gesicki, Fugamalli, Thomas, Hurst and Smythe are some I has watched or read a little on and are probably round 1-3 guys.

I think the one sleeper who could be had late due to injuries is Adam Brennaman. No idea if I spelled that right. He is from UMASS, a transfer from Penn State. He may be the most talented member of the group, but I think his knees are all screwed up. He is not the kind of guy you take and think he is going to fix the position long term, but he could help for 2-3 years while we still have Ben until his knees can't take it any more. The guy is a player and very talented.

VMs contract is peanuts compared to the amount of cash they are ready to spend on Bell, spend the bank on Bell and let the rest of the team suffer for it....

Don't necessarily need a TE, but we need a a big Red Zone target. Martavis isn't a combat catcher.

On the other hand, our current TE's aren't exactly the greatest blockers. It would help if we had a TE who could do it all. Vance is okay, but not quite what I had in mind.
