Nothing new to add, but it's inneresting. Either Mitch is stepping down or he's not going to wear two hats anymore. Or Mehta misspoke.

Sounds good to me! Glad Mitch is staying on as well. But we could use some new energy on that defense.

He has been at bama for a couple years. I hate to see him leave there but i guess if he comes to steelers it would be ok.lol

Alittle older maybe around 50. He is a good dude. Met him a few times down there. U hear nothing but good things from him. Has coached in the nfl too

maybe mitchells time is running down before he actually does retire and this is a way to familiarize dunbar with the job before john goes completely. it is and has been a strength of our defense under mitchell. they are always or have been pretty stout under his watch.

Well someone behind the scene seems to understand that the defensive coaches need a bit of a change. Hopefully we hear that Porter "Has Resigned" soon. Sounds a bit of Art II.

Agree 100% with his assessment of both Porter and Mitchell. Williams, not so much. I think he has limited talent but plays with a lot of heart. He's probably best suited for a top backup role but can be an effective starter if you've got a Ryan Shazier type beside him.

After reading this I have two questions: 1) Why is Joey Porter still on this coaching staff? and 2) Why has Mike Mitchell not been released?

On paper at least, this looks like another quality hire. I like the changes so far.

I would chance to say in the case of Mitchell they are getting all their ducks in a row and waiting until they hammer together a plan for cap relief and whether they will need drastic measures after Bell is signed and if Ben's extension doesn't move the needle enough. On Joey I think it will be wait and see, they seem to be going at their own pace with this stuff.

I like Porter, I would just like him better as a "former" Steeler great who comes to talk to the team once in a while. You know, like a majority of the other greats who realized they were great players but probably not meant to be coaches. Mitchell, well, I wish he wouldn't go away mad, just go away! Honestly, what would he have to be mad about? He just got away with robbing the Steelers for a couple of years.

Seems as if John Mitchell will assist Tomlin in more ways than one.

Considering where we are currently, John Mitchell will currenly oversee management duties while Tomlin and his scouting team can continue to prepare for the NFL Draft.
