Sure would have been nice if Cowher had the team prepared for that game.

Agreed! Beaten by a Barry Switzer coached team!

Actually this gives me some hope. If a Barry Switzer coached team can make it to and win the Super Bowl, then surely a Mike Tomlin coached team can do the same. Of course most folks say that Switzer won with Jimmy Johnson's players, and he did, just like people say that Tomlin won with Cowher's players, and he did. But Tomlin still has Ben so we'll see. He's a little better than Neil O'Dummy.

I know Switzerland was an awful coach. I mean he only won 3 NCAA Championships. Everyone knows you’re a scrub unless you win at least 5.

Yeah, and we all know how well successful college football coaches fare in the NFL.

Not at all. The Steelers lost that super bowl because Cowher didn’t have the team prepared. Not too mention him not keeping the locker room in check. It’s his fault Morris got busted with car full of weed in the off season too.

The Cowboys were big favorites in that game. Not many people were giving the Steelers a chance. We had the momentum in the second half and the Neil O'Dummy and the stupid receivers staring running plays from different playbooks. Point is, we were the big underdog. Tomlin coached teams tend to prefer losing when we're the big favorites.

I was thinking more along the lines of Nick Saban, Bobby Petrino, Lou Holtz, Steve Spurrier, Chip Kelly, Dennis Erickson, Butch Davis...

That was a trend under Cowher as well. Nice selective memory though

So you only focus on the negative. It all makes perfect sense now.

Oh I had plenty of criticism for Cowher. But looking back, Cowher never had the luxury of having one of the top quarterbacks in the league for his entire career.

Terrible comparison.....that Dallas team was loaded for bear. The only hope I remember having was that we hadn't lost a SB yet and we beat Dallas twice....I know not much behind those thoughts but that's all I had...we gave them a good run for the money then NO happened....sigh.

Cowher didn’t want a qb. He was too smart for that. Of course he gets a pass for that.

Not from me. It was stupid for him to want to draft Sean Andrews over Ben. Cowher has plenty of warts.

It’s not rose colored glasses it’s just proof your claim is wrong.

The first half of that Superbowl was a blur...The steelers didn't make a play..offense or defense..Kinda like now when we don't show up until the middle of the 2nd quarter some games...But the second half of that game was a different story..That game was there for the takin, but we all know how that story ended..FN Neil Odonnell....So as much as I liked Cowher ,Their were plenty of games his team looked less than ready to play in..

Of those guys you mentioned the only ones who won RINGS in college and pros are Jimmy and Pete. The rest did not. He's talking about guys like saban who dominate and win chips as college head coaches and go straight and fail in the NFL. Of course hes nit strictly talking about a college position coach who became an nfl position coach or coordinator and then an nfl head coach. That's literally anyone who has ever coached in the NFL. He was being more specific than that.

. Saban was a 500 coach in 2 seasons for the dolphins. He took a 4-12 team and went 9-7. Maybe it’s just me, but two years is way too short of a time span to make a claim that a coach sucked. It’s definitely a far cry from failing. So every coach that didn’t win a super bowl sucks? Please don’t forget mr analyst that winning a Super Bowl isn’t easy. You have to have all the pieces and everything has to go your way.

We have a 2nd year coach in the sb with a back up qb... who replaced a guy who was playing like arguably the best player in the NFL this season... and who did that coach replace? A college coach who went to the championship in college but was a failure in the NFL. and belichick and Brady makes it look easy when they aren't that much better than anyone else talent wise. And saban was a bad nfl coach. Goat college coach though.

Didn't Cowher have the Great Big Ben in his last season of coaching when he went 8-8 and missed the playoffs? And don't give me the "his wife was ill" excuse, since that didn't happen until after he retired from coaching, as tragic as that was.
