Since so many threads are roasting him, some critiques from even me, here's a good article by Ed with some good points.

Noll having problems with Earnie Holmes, hiring a coach only to fire him the next day when he found out he had already been hired as a HC elsewhere, being sued by Blount (I dont remember that) cut a player for failed drug test only to sign him back days later because he was desperate. Lets not forget Cowher allowing players to hold a video rehearsal before the championship game against SD.

Tomlin has a stellar record, hes not going anywhere. He needs to exert more control over his players, thats doable.

“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results”

Tomlin is not a good coach. If the Steelers do not get lucky, they will not win another title with him as coach. Lucky is what he had this year. He had almost every top notch QB go out before the steelers played them and he still sucked at playing against them. Kizer, who was arguably the worst QB in the league had his best games against the Steelers. The proof is on the tape. This has nothing to do with opinion and who likes or dislikes whom. Tomlin is not a good head coach. Proof is there, you just have to pay attention. The results say it all.

You already know my stance Blast. :smiley1:

Until Tomlin suffers cataclysmic, consecutive meltdown seasons, he is a very good coach in my eyes.

He needs to reel in those players as you stated. Self righteousness is not how a team generates camaraderie organically. Camaraderie is forged through adversity while retaining humility yet demonstrating a quiet but strong confidence.

Honest question what has Tomlin changed/fixed in the last 10 years? And what makes you think he'll change/fix ( it ) if you give him one more yr?

He has rebuilt the team and created one of - if not the - most talented offenses the Steelers organization has ever seen.

Has he or has he not kept the steelers relevant? Has the offense not improved? He took an aging defense and held on to it maybe 2 years longer than he should have but has completely rebuilt it. Sure they are great but the broke a sack record, which i dont see how, and i bet the average age is around 25 or 26.
He hired munchak to fix the oline. He hired haley to help ben from taking a beating. He seen lebeau system needing changed and did so.
Butler does do things different. Maybe not as predictable.

To say he has done nothing is ridiculous

It's doable .......but can he do it? Like I alluded to in another post it's going to be very difficult to convey a different message with the same voice. Sometimes that voice gets tuned out....you're a Yankee fan, same thing happened with Girardi. Sometimes I different voice is needed. We can't just be looking at this past Sunday ,these same issues go way back too. I'm not anti Tomlin but I have my doubts he can fix the locker room and his in game stuff hasn't been improving like it should. He's been here long enough to see marked improvement and we haven't. Still way too many head scratchers and unprepared moments

Ok so let me ask you this if he's coaching the Browns would they be 13-3 and the steelers be 0-16 with Jackson as our coach? We have a TON of talent but it's all being wasted imo I like Tomlin don't get me wrong but he's is what he is and will never change.

No and i aint explaining why to u with that comparison. We have ton of talent yes. On one side of the ball.

Serious question. How many great players, not good, do we have on defense?

Right now he's an HC kinda guy. I'm sure he will address the needs of the defense. Losing #50 was a major hit. And the secondary still needs a playmaker or two.

We probably have 3 very good player that why I'm pissed off at Tomlin he's supposed to be a D kinda guy but we alway let average QBs look like HOFers

Watt, Haden, and Tuitt when healthy and to be completely honest with you I think that if they can get a REAL NT a good OLB a good safety and someone to replace Ryan, that could Put us back in business

He rebuilt almost the entire offense and is rebuilding the defense. He managed to do that without a losing record.

We were 13-3 with a patchwork defense better burn it all down and start from scratch.

I don't disagree. I would not be upset if they replaced him for the reasons you mentioned but I do not think he is a bad coach which is being floated all over the board.

I'm also fine with him remaining as HC. My hope is he can do it. AB hasn't had any more Facebook live moments, Bryant got in line after Tomlin spoke to him and benched him. Mitchell is easily fixed, cut him. Bell is a bigger problem. I don't know if he can get the message, I think he is more me oriented then any of them.

Well usually, I expected a good chance for you to rate my views generally as either disagreeing or being very optimistic.

I suppose good chances are only just that, good chances.

What I read here is Tomlin is a good coach. He just needs to learn how to be a leader, get better at game planning, clock management, hold players accountable, yada yada yada.

He is a good coach. He just needs to learn how to be a good coach. LOL.

Tomlin is not going anywhere. A non championship year, which is safe to say unless this defense sells its soul to the devil, and I think he could legitimately be on the hot seat next year. Minority owners are speaking out against him to the media. Not good. And I heard someone say today he’s been a good coach record wise but it could have been so much better! That is the truest statement of all. He has wasted Bens prime and his team has come up short to many times now. Although I don’t know who could be better isn’t any option at least in theory hypothetically better? Because we know what will happen with him. Can’t change a tigers stripes as they say. He is what he is, a great coach he is not.

Literally means nothing. As Ed pointed out, Art can show THEM the door if he wants too.
