I don't think Wiz was up for the Steelers job at that time anyway, it was between Tomlin and Russ Grimm. Obviously the Steelers made the right choice .

Whisenhunt interviewed, but Grimm was the one who was closer to getting it. Some insiders actually told a local reporter Grimm was the choice, then the team went with Tomlin instead.

Given that Tomlin led the team to two Super Bowl appearances, winning one of them, and has had them consistently in contention, that seems like the right call was made. Also, Grimm has never come close to getting a head coaching job since. That should also tell you something.

I posted this in another spot. He inherited a good team and won a SB with that team and deserves credit for that but since then he has basically been Andy Reid 2.0. A good regular season followed by a stunning playoff loss that usually involves a bad game plan, game management, clock management etc... Not saying Andy Reid isn't a good coach, not saying Tomlin isn't a good coach both will get you up Mt Everest then when you get near the top you'll realize you were climbing Mt Washington all along.

I know he's not getting fired but he should lose all control to fill out his staff. He also should be called into the FO or owner's office and get told for every loss to teams like the Bears in the regular (or Oakland years ago, or Cleveland any year, or Houston a few years ago, you get the point) and for stupid penalties or social media crap from any player, he's getting docked some $. If he doesn't like it - there's the door.

Time for someone above him to put accountability back into the organization, it's clear that Tomlin can do it.

He also gets one year and if he under performs relative to his playoff position, he's done - meaning if the Steelers are favored to win a playoff game and they don't - he's gone.
