In today's media climate it would be a PR nightmare to fire Tomlin now...

What's his playoff record since being a passenger on that 2009 team?

I'm thinking that even the rooneys ownership has weakened with the passing of Dan.
They even supported the contract ext of the commish

The Steeler Way is great when you have head coaches like Noll and Cowher. But with the talent this team has had under Tomlin’s watch, it is time to move on.

It took us a long time to find a stud QB after Bradshaw, and we have squandered all these years with Big Ben with sub-par coaching.

    Sigh... what could have been...

He did call them out, and he made a bad throw. He had a fumble returned for a TD. Other than that, this offense laid the lumber to Jacksonville's supposedly unbeatable defense. That is indisputable. Our defense got owned too, by a bum of a QB. No excuse for it. Yes, there were some bad decisions made and some uncalled/ overlooked penalties. But this glass defense got broken today. To suggest that any other reason was more responsible for this loss than a total defensive collapse is simply bending stats and perception to fit a personal narrative/opinion, which is many cases is furthering the argument that HCMT needs to be fired.

I said this a couple of weeks ago, and I supposed we'll never know for sure - I still think it played at least some part in today's performance. The O was noticeably rusty until they finally clicked - but we were already down 21-0 - that changes an offensive gameplan immensely.

The other thing that annoys me is that the Steelers and most of the AFC sat back and let this juggernaut form in NE without any serious competition. 7 straight AFC Championship Games! You would think the Rooneys would say let's form the best coaching staff we can to counter this but no, they with stick with mediocrity under the guise of success.

Under Tomlin leadership the steelers have been going backwards. The only thing that makes Tomlin record look good is the talent the front office gives him. The games they win is because of the talent on the offense. Dick Lebeau left because of Tomlin leadership. The offensive and defensive coordinators are Tomlins picks.

Who are the Steelers? They surely are not the smash mouth football they once were.

    Tomlin is responsible for -

    Offensive play calling - Terrible
    Defense - Terrible
    Special Teams - Terrible
    Coordinators - Terrible
    Preparation - Terrible
    Game Plan - Terrible

All head coaches over ride the coordinators. It won't do any good firing the coordinator if Tomlin is going to sit back and let the next coordinator make bad calls.

I've been a season ticket holder for over 20 years. It has never crossed my mind to give up my season tickets until now..

If Marvin Lewis can keep his job, Tomlin will be here for the next 20 years.

I agree with your assessment of Coach Cliche and his ilk. But I do not agree with being the "most talented team" in the AFC. That is a monkier given by the media and Steeler fans. The Steelers are AVERAGE at best. Without Roethlisberger and Brown, they suddenly become doormats.....kinda like what they produce in the playoffs......

I've seen every game Tomlin has coached. Other than that 4 game stretch where Big Ben was suspended, the coaching has been below average.

Losing to Tim Tebow, Blake Bortles, a 40% Peyton manning when you've had the better team. He is not a good coach. Motivation is horse****. There is no feel or adjustment to the game with this guy. None.

The depression is he will be here a while.

I did not know if I could come on here. After seeing one of the most improbable games in 45 years of Steelers watching- one in which offensive records were set in a loss- try to get your head around that one- I'm drained by this whole season. The only one that comes close to this for me, is 1997- same kind of feel. Lots of offense and close games either way, ending in a ball busting playoff loss at home.

I have always been a Tomlin supporter. After seeing the shoddy coaching today, and thinking about all the times they've blown games to inferior teams, and all the shenanigans and stupid penalties from his players. I'm now off from that. Would love it, if they showed him the door, and made Munchak the coach. Won't happen, and I might not feel that way tomorrow either. But it's how I feel right now. Of course, if I were a Saints fan, I'd probably feel even worse.

Meanwhile, I see the Patriots putting 35-40 points on Jacksonville next week, in a game that will be over in about a quarter or so. This may be heresy to say on here nowadays, but I am going to root for James to close out his great career with another ring. And, I'll see you guys again around draft time. Win or lose, you are the best.

Just look at the discipline. Ben wanted the Jags (and yes, he put up 42, but he also gave up 14 with his turnovers) and the last TD was after the outcome was no longer in doubt. Bell's talking about contracts and retirement and round 2s (meaning he was overlooking today). Tomlin even said as much on national TV. There is no discipline or mental edge to this team. Without HFA (and even with), they will never get to another SB in the next 5-10 years - and looking at the schedule for next year, they aren't getting HFA.

The only good news - bet against them in big games because rarely do they win and if they do, they hardly ever cover. Lost vs spread 10 of 17 games this year including the Pats and today. You can make some good money going against them with Tomlin on the sideline, particularly if the game matters.

Man Tomlin made some bad decisions in the game.

I don't question his ability to lead men, but his in game decisions are often terrible.

But we can't get rid of Tomlin, he hasn't had a losing season since he's been here!
