Perhaps not but, Ben throws a lot of passes that shouldn't be thrown. 2 of them went for long TDs today!

The D did not want to face Harrison next week.

    2. Not Butler's fault we have underachieving/slow/aging/past-prime players in our secondary.

Not ruling out mistakes, but if you're gonna play that game - Ben also threw 5 TD's and kept us in the game. Did he give up the other 31?

Then he should know that and replace them with players capable of doing the job. Didn't Lebeau get run out of town for that exact same reason?

Agree, but what if mgmt doesn't give him the players to replace them with? What if the backups are just as bad (or worse) than the starters? Issues are with what positions we draft (and those we don't). That's not really Butler's deal.

Didn't LeBeau get run out of town for that exact reason you described about over the hill players? Bench players couldn't do any worse according to my eyes.

They wouldn't have to since he's also on defense.

Was it that, or was it that people started to figure out his schemes? And that our players (paraphrased from posters here) were too "dumb" to get it? I think a little of both.

Tough decisions coming up. I could see them getting rid of Butler, but then how much will the loss of Shazier play in how hard they look at Butler?

Don't need to get rid of Butler. Just demote the guy and bring in someone who wasn't a LeBeau protege.

There are a lot of young players on the defense who suck.

Butler doesn't adjust to things. Jags came it running the exact same crap they ran the first time they played and it worked yet again.

Yeah, that's the "underachieving" part I mentioned. They got to the NFL on talent - so why all of a sudden do they look like a bunch of JV kids out there sometimes? Busts? Or just poor coaching and/or adjustments?

They should hire Jerry Sandusky as a defensive advisor. He is close by. And he was a great defensive coordinator.

He did not drive into the throw. Somewhat flat-footed or more off his back foot. I believe the d-back would not have intercepted it had he had more on the throw.

This undisciplined defense is getting old to watch season after season. They don't stay in their lanes, they don't set the edge, and they look lost in the secondary. I don't know whose to blame but in my eyes those issues fall directly on Butler.

Agree. It was a bad throw - those types get INT'd more often than caught by the receiver.

I don't know. New England's defense was horrid at the start of the year and by the end, with mostly the same players, they were excellent.

Hand the Pats' staff the Steelers' talent and they would have made the Super Bowl in both of the last two seasons. The gap between the two coaching staffs is as big as the gap between Brady and Bortles.

It was a terrible pass. He was not open and he was short of the chains by 5 yards.

He threw it short and late as well.

I'm listening to the interview now. The very first thing Roethlisberger did was put the blame on himself for the two turnovers leading to two Jacksonville touchdowns.

Regarding the quarterback sneak, he said he doesn't know why they don't do it, but he also pointed out that it had been years since they tried one and he's not going to second-guess the coaches.

Yeah right like Ben never second guessed the coaches before, Ben probably told Haley he doesn't like to QB sneak.
