This is what they need somebody to drill into their heads it's not about you or your stats, it's about doing your job and helping others to do theirs, as in blocking. Ward is the kick in the ass that these receivers need. Bring back the Steelers old skool mind set ( minus Ju Ju he's already there)

Then he can take over Tomlin's job. :)

I would love it. I just hope he can coach as good as he played?

Great players don't always go on to become great coaches. Remember that Joe Greene wasn' much of a coach when he coached or DL. Ward did teach Burress, Holmes, Randle El, etc a lot, so he might be a coaching candidate, but it' not a given.

Yeah - as a motivator I’m sure Ward is great. That doesn’t necessarily translate into great coaching, though.

Not all of them do transition to coaching very well. I would say the players who were gifted physically or had the skills naturally do not become good coaches. You can't teach those skills which come naturally as effectively as someone who doesn't have them imo. Ward was a football player who became a great WR. He had to learn a lot of it, I think he has a good foundation for coaching.

i'd rather have an old vet coach like mann. he's made a huge difference in this group. i'd like to have one like him help out the DB's too.

I generally agree with that but Ward lived off execution and knows the game. Not that it is huge or anything but being a former QB helps also. I honestly think he would be a good coach. Who would have bought Porter would be a good coach.

Lake and Porter aren't anything special as coaches, I would rather keep Mann as WR coach.

Mann is talking about retirement, they have no control over that.
