Just 2 days before the divisional playoff vs Jacksonville, and we have Mitchell ignoring the Jags game, skipping right to NE, and calling the win.

We also have Le'Veon, who is talking retirement, or skipping a year if he isn't paid.

We also have Ben, who is saying this is not his last game at Heinz.

We have guys getting banged up in practice, with our best linebacker in a wheel chair.

As Lombardi said, "What the hell is goin on out there?"

I think it's all much ado about nothing.

    Mitchell just being Mitchell
    Bell just being Bell
    Ben just being Ben
Injuries this time of year happens to all teams that are left.

Lombardi? Yep that's still the goal.

    1. Mitchell has already said those comments were from earlier - some writer wanting to get some looks most likely. (nothing to see here)

    2. Bell just being Bell

    3. Ben - What's wrong with him saying that? He's basically saying he's coming back next year win or lose this year. If they win and Pats win they go to NE and he'll play at Heinz field next year again. If they lose, it's not his last game as he'll play at Heinz field next year. If they win and Pats lose, he'll play at Heinz field again this year.

    4. injuries do really just happen. Can't say that's a turmoil casing thing in the NFL. It's not like there's someone taking cheap shots in practice.

Goal is Super Bowl. This week's goal is a win! However they win I'll take it and they'll take it!

Typical NFL stuff. The Steelers are a popular team and a ratings draw so everything gets magnified.

Bell has also come out and disputed those comments saying right now he isn’t even think about next year he is thinking about the playoffs and the super bowl.

You do realize that TV ratings for the NFL were down sharply this year, right? Just NFL fueling the media frenzy, and them returning the favor by keeping the fans interested in a lackluster product.

It's way better than your personal trainer comes out and says they all hate each other's guts...

The ratings have been down since 2000, nobody can beat the cheats so why bother watching ...

... Except none of those points suggest “turmoil” at all.

As Lizard said, and was discussed in the thread, the Mitchell quote was taken severely out of context.

The other stuff is just par for the course.

The Mitchell comment was made weeks ago. He wasn't overlooking the jags.

The media always makes things out of nothing, they ask a question and players answer it then the media twists it making it look like the player is mad or something. Bell's respons:

I’m trying to win a super bowl...I can care less about what happens after this season...my biggest thing I’m focused on is this team I’m on right now, playing for/with my brothers, & bringing back a 7th ring! what happens next year is irrelevant to my goals

But yet the media don't want to report that........

Not really the media per-se. It's the Sports Media. The only thing they have to talk about is the sport and sometimes you need to twist quotes to get some juicy stuff flowing for upcoming games....

I'm not saying it's a Steelers-only thing. All teams have drama like this - and I seriously doubt it all "just comes out" naturally.

Was there any week this year that we didn’t have drama? At this point, I would be concerned if there WASN’T any drama. I’m not worried about it.

    Steelers by 13 over Jax
    Steelers by 10 over NE
    Steelers by 20 over Eagles

Remember, as the tournament narrows, the reporters have to congregate where they can get interviews. When we win this Sunday, the press next week will be almost unbearable. All the old games, all the scores, all the cheating. We’ve been down this road plenty of times, with success comes controversy.

I refuse to accept that this is just "Bell being Bell" .. this is yet another example of our staff not having the players focused and buttoned up. Yeah he back tracked after and said he was focused but usually the first thing that comes out of your mouth is what's the focus on your mind. This group i fear just doesnt have it between the ears to be champions. Talent will only take them so far. Hope im wrong
